She seems to be OK with being called Cha-Cha in her older years, or the name wouldn't be under that last picture. Many people, as they grow older, tend to be OK with using a nick name that brought them fame, even if they didn't like it much back then.

    Yeah...

One guy is pushing, one guy looks like he wants them to stop, and the guy on the right...who knows what he's trying to do !
And the driver..."get the hell out of my way..."

    Teague 8x10.jpg

In the 1980s (or so), the SCTA allowed cars to be push-started off the line, circle back, come to a stop (?!?kinda), and be pushed off the line towards the 1.3-mile trap down the finish. Those days were great fun as Al Teague made a run all of us waited all day for -- usually you got only one a day. Back in those days, it was hard to crank a killer on the line and have to buckle up the body work and pull out a starter if there was one at all.

I shot this photo and really liked it. I made an 8x10 for Al and gave it to him at the next meet. Then the crew members wanted one, so I had a few more printed.

It's been in Hot Rod, the Bonneville Program (thanx to their old editor who got in trouble because it was at El Mirage {well, it had been rained out a Bonneville the prior year}), and countless other places.

I've lost all the "originals" that Freud made for me when I switched computers. This one's electric and I'm not in command. Great shot -- but you had to be there!
