The other day Rikster shared this kool post A couple of sketches Jim Roten created in the later part of the 1950’s as design proposals and studies for cars being Restyled at Riley Collins Custom Shop in Chico California.
Jim and Riley were close friends and they worked together on many projects. Jim’s sketches helped Riley’s clients see what they had in mind for their cars.

Ford Caravan seems right. That looks like Gene Winfield's Pacifica underneath of it. Which was built for the Ford Caravan in 62

  23. And that appears to be a 1964 Galaxie lightweight car above the Cobra.
The slots in the grill inboard of the headlights are where the air intake tubes are.

  29. Ford obviously owned the cars and they sold the Custom Car Caravan to an Indy driver who died a few years later. It's not really clear if they sold the cars or just the name of the show but this article states that many of the cars were destroyed or donated to sub suppliers. If Ford kept the cars they probably treated them like concept cars hence the destruction.
