My avatar had a serious stinkbug stance when I got it, but it sucked big-time. The headlights pointed at the ground, even on high beam the lighting was bad (and no one flashed me). It also put the front bumper low, so much so that it dragged going into driveways and whatnot. I finally put 2.5" lowering blocks in the rear, much better... Pre-lowering blocks Thought I had an 'after' pic, but I don't..
Hey Steve, I have a few more miles on my tires than most here and this " stinkbug stance." was never known as a rodding term here on the west coast, that I recall, and I do not remember this radical stance out here either, being that popular after WW II. Now if ya wanna talk "tail dragger(s)", way different story.............. Later in history I recall the fad returned once again, this time beginning in So. Cal. with the term, the car was "Dagoed" (Any guesses as to why, that term from the gang here?) Over hill.
Only when they had 6 foot flared chrome dump tubes under them.. in 61-62 on Fridays and Saturday night on Hawthorne Blvd you could count 5 at every light and most were 59-60 Impalas.
the stinkbug was popular in the early 70s. look at the thread about big tires sticking out. we had to raise the rear to clear the wide ovals.
