Since he was in the surfer pose I guessed it was Sorokin "The Surfer".
Fun fact - The Surfers never really were surfers. That was just a name given to them by other racers because of their laid back, cut-up attitude in the pits, where they rarely worked on the car at races.

I was just looking at the above photo and I realized I could ID another person in it. The coupe lends a clue as to his identity.
