Played with a 50 Desoto grille installed in the 1949 Dodge , was surprised it fit recessed into the opening like a glove....Pics coming...

Is what I read correct!? $1100 more for the bigger heads? As in each!

Yes sir. Yourself and @lumpy 63 had me set up with brackets. Gave a chrome one away to a friend and now the last one is going in the 57.

  22. I put 2 hrs in on that M/T valve cover I avoided the other day, still a few belt sander marks in there but I've got the majority worked out.
That was 360 degrees of belt sander, all the way around the damn thing !

Alternator conversion done. Had to weld lower pivot brackets forward hole up since the bolt centerline did not match up then drilled a new hole. Also made a new adjuster bracket. Looks ok (made it to resemble the original one). Think I’ll rework it if the hard angle bugs me enough. Picked up the small pieces from a production chrome shop. Only nickel and chrome. No copper. Look great great. I prepped. Some bead blasted, Some 400 girt finished and some polished. $225.00. 2024-03-29 13.10.26-1.jpg 2024-03-29 13.10.26-2.jpg The hairpins, ladder bars and 38 tube axle are at a custom chrome shop.

1950 Desoto came with 2 grille sets.. got curious and recessed one into the 1949 Dodge opening..Fit perfectly.. Bottom mounting holes are a snap. Uppers just require some mounting tabs.. I like the way it looks 50CE0749-85CF-48B3-9500-55B2DC562390.jpeg 03BA73E4-42F5-4244-892D-C71F56FC72F7.jpeg

IMG_1132.jpeg IMG_1128.jpeg IMG_1124.jpeg Still waiting to get my distributor back for my ‘62 Mercury. Rebuilder said the cam lobes were really worn bad and he’s fresh out of parts distributors for that. So I wait.
Spent the day clear coating some metal vacuum lines after cleaning. Finished rebuilding the carb, and wet tested it. Bent a new fuel line from pump to inline filter, as the old one was just rubber. Then took the 2 speed outside and pressure washed it after blocking off anywhere water could get in. It was NASTY gunky, turned out OK, but looks rough in the picture as it had been painted black years ago.
