Great pics Jeff . Was Sam Rambo on the run today

  4. Hey Les! Good to hear from you! I didn’t see Sam, but not positive. I don’t know if he has ever come on these runs.

Oh, and here are a couple pics my son took.

  7. People driving their cars and smiling. Looks like a good day to me. :) Thank you.

  8. Looks like a good time

  9. I didn’t count a hundred cars.

    I demand a refund.

    Great pics
    Thanks

  10. I think there was actually closer to 260 that drove a hundred miles…but, they aren’t all HAMB-friendly. :D So, it wasn’t false advertising…just misunderstanding. We did feed BBQ to about 500 people too. So, maybe better than advertised?

I would like to thank the Crossmembers CC for the effort they put into these events! It’s a lot of hard work and we appreciate it. You guys ROCK!

  12. On behalf of those guys, thanks Greg! As you know, @bchrismer is the main guy for the SWMO event, but there are also more CMCC guys involved in this event than any of the others we put on. We are just humbled that so many folks like to show up and drive with us as do. If it weren’t for folks showing up, these events wouldn’t be what they have become. I guess some people do actually like to drive these old cars and not just sit behind them in a lawn chair at some show. ;)

  13. Great pictures Jeff, thanks for sharing...

Maybe I'll make it to one of these in the near future!

  14. His wife has health issues and he hauls her motorized conveyance in the back and uses the ramp to load/unload.

  15. It usually takes me several days after doing the run to gather up enough of my marbles to somewhat effectively communicate after these events.

As Jeff stated, I run with the planning of the route, handle registrations, order the t-shirts, and make the arrangements with the parks at either end, all the while heavily leaning on Clay to keep me on the right path. When it comes to the "real work" of executing on the plan, that's where Chic Spears (and her recruits), Clay, Jeff, Jimmy, Meeker, Micky, & Randy come into play, while I am bombarded trying to respond to questions and visit with folks who track me down to have a conversation.

We do these events because people tell us it's the event that they look forward to the most of the year. Whether that is because it is one of the first events, or whether it's because it is because they love to get out and drive, it absolutely is humbling to consider that people dig what we're doing and want to be part of it.

    So...Thanks!!!

This was my first time attending this event. It was well run and organized. Too many late models, but beggars vs. choosers and all that. I had a great drive and day. The old Packard did all 100 miles without a hiccup, despite working her ass off going up and down some of those hills. Weather was perfect. Great Job CMCC Guys!

I recognize many of those cars; it's just too bad Clarence couldn't have been there.

    THANX for posting the pix.

We brought an off-topic ride this year at my wife's request, and accidentally made @bchrismer happy because he secretly loves dentside Fords. Mission accomplished!

This is a must attend event for myself and a group of close friends, and we really appreciate all of the hard work that is put into it! Thank you to all of the group that worked so hard to do this for us... even Meeker! :D

Was a favorite moment! I tell my wife as we are driving "Offer that guy a cookie." She says "What?" I'm all "the guy with the goatee. Offer him a cookie!" So she does. You looked really confused, but you took one!:D

We made 15 dozen. Our group and a few other folks ate almost all of them.

I was the dumb looking guy standing next to Jeff that turned down the cookie offer. I wasn't being rude, but there was a coconut cream pie calling my name and I didn't need to add any pre-pie sugar..... Loved the truck.... especially the rear tires. Old farm trucks are cool.

The old fella I bought the truck from put those rear tires on it just before I bought it. I had to run them, and his Conway Twitty 8-track, and his spring load clip on ice scraper from the 70s. The old truck just screams SW Missouri.

It is my wife's truck. I bought it to flip, but she won't let me sell it.

  29. Hold the phone!! BBQ and cookies??? What are the details of this awesome event?

  30. LOL! The short summary is that people pre-register which includes a cool t-shirt and BBQ lunch on the day of the event. On the day of the event, we gather up at the starting point, hand out all the shirts and directions, have a drivers meeting, hang out and talk with friends, and then head out on the 100ish mile route taking two lane roads through the country until we get to either a planned stop along the way or our destination at the end where we will have BBQ and hang out a while longer before heading home. It’s mostly about a relaxing day with friends out for a drive through the country in the old cars and lunch at the end. It’s honestly pretty cool to take 250 or so old cars on a route off the normal beaten path. Seems folks like this stuff for the most part as long as they enjoy people and old cars. :)
