What’s everyone do when they have to cut instrument panel to fit tilt steering? All internals in guages are gone
After we spoke yesterday, I did a little research. The original gauges are a hard find and not compatible with the powerplant you have in the car. I will still look for a 3 hole bezel, but I still see the best option as a fabricated gauge panel and later gauges. There is a 1949/50 Buick speedometer on E-Bay, Item: 126253725366
Could always try a 53/54 Chevy car gauge bezel. Be a custom touch plus would open up a lot of aftermarket options
The whole deal looks too close to the dash. If it was just a little further away, I don't think the big fat part would even come into play. Do you have room to pull the whole thing back a little ways before the steering wheel is in your face? Also, be aware that we deal with tilt steering columns around here about as often as R-rods. Tilt steering columns are a street rod thing.
My take is the tilt will not work as it should because it to close to the dash. Looking at switch your hand looks to me like it will drag the dash. Opinion only
