Got a new ride just wondering if anyone can decode the plate 54A DE2 34 230 3 5 I tried on the net only nothing would come up. Also any easy way to tell if the engine is a 292 or a 352

First letter of the serial number on the plate will tell you the engine. That’s the top line, you’ve quoted the second line which tells you trim, colour, trans etc. 292 was a Y-block, 352 was an FE, easy spot is the valve covers on a Y block are held on by two bolts in the centre and distributor is at the rear.
As mentioned above: 292 Valve covers held on by 2 bolts in the center of the covers. Distributor at the rear. 352 Valve covers held on with 5 bolts around the perimeter. Distributor at front.

An hour with a couple of cans of that stuff a sponge and lots of water and that car will be ready for polish and wax.

Yep, a 332 and a 2-speed Fordomatic. Both of these are orphans. The 332 was only around for two years ('58-59) before being discontinued, the trans was a '59-early '65 piece when it also disappeared. With a 2.91 rear axle ratio, this was ordered with fuel economy in mind, not performance. The 332 may be a solid-lifter motor as Ford added hydraulic lifters to it midway through '59.

Dang... that thing is a dead ringer for the one my dad bought in '63. 332 with Cruise-o-matic... First thing I got to drive on a public road in the Midwest.
It looks like the one my old man traded in around the fall of 1966 on a brand new 1967 Custom 500. I was 7 years old so I barely remember it, but have seen some pics of it. I remember thinking it was ugly back then, my feelings toward 1959’s haven’t changed, lol!
My feelings exactly... As a teenager/young adult I was surrounded by '59's. My dad had one, my uncle had one, my mom had one, my first mother-in-law had one and I ended up with several of those boats. Nice cars, but...
Be nice to the old 59s,one of the few affordable classics left, but going up in value, at least asking prices
