A couple of months ago some friends here in Wichita (Matt Smith & Jack Marinelli aka yblock292 decided they want to put together a day to celebrate the 1940 Ford. So they made an event page on Facebook and invited everybody that could see it to come out and bring their 39 or 40 Ford. They opened the rest of the parking area up to anybody with a cool car. The event went down last weekend and I was able to catch a few photos and I'm working on uploading a video to my YouTube now. That's some of the cars, the full photo gallery is here. I hope some of you take this as inspiration to invite a bunch of friends to gather up and hang out with your rides. No show, no trophies, just a laid back good time with a bunch of like minded hooligans.
Pretty cool...I need to figure out how to do stuff more like this instead of events that take more planning. Thanks for the coverage Travis! I bet it was a great time!
video was very well done. I think my favorite was the black sedan with whitewalls and Caddy looking hubcaps. all that flat land!!! we don't have that where I live.
Thanks for documenting the event Travis! I think Jack and I are going to do it again next year. We learned a lot this year and I anticipate next year will be even better! We had so much fun putting this together! Keep your eyes peeled for next years "event"!
Anybody happen to have a few pics of the work in progress '40 coupe with no front clip? I saw it in the video. I was noticing its exhaust routing under the running boards and thinking of going the same route.
I don't have any from that day, but I believe Jack (yblock292) said it's going to paint soon, I'll try to get down there and get a couple of pics before it does.
That's the car. I'll have to look for the thread. I have a recent shot of the engine but not much else
I don't have many photo's but here's some. The engine is a 430 MEL bored out some and came out of an alcohol drag boat. It's a monster! Ford top loader 4 speed, 9" rear. It's gonna be super nice!
Complete exhaust built by Donnie Blecka. Headers route to flex joint then into ovalized tubing under the running boards. The exhaust exits thru custom ports in the running board. No mufflers!
I think the motor maybe came from Uncle scooby? I recall there being a video floating around of it running, pretty snotty!
Thanks for the pics, that thing does indeed look mighty wicked. I was thinking of running the exhaust outside like that would help to keep the heat out of the cabin. Personally I cannot live without mufflers, but I can probably see a way to squeeze in some cherry bombs or low profile versions.
My choice is Jones from Summit. Like a turbo muffler, but shaped like a glass pack. Not super loud, but has a rich deep tone. Comes in several sizes.
