    Hey,

I've been thinking a lot about a cool scallop paint job for my car recently and I'm currently looking for some more inspiration. So feedback and ideas are very welcome.

A bit of background: When I bought the car, it had a 32 style fiberglass grill which was unbearable for me. I cannot stand fiberglass. So I had to swap it for a metal one and since I couldnt match the faded-out red paint, I decided to go for black. The 7 was already on the car when I bought it and I'm looking to keep it.

Apologies for the quick and dirty MS Paint work, but I no idea how to use Photoshop and stuff.

This is how the car currently looks (more or less - tires and other details are different now)

#1: Black stripe on the bead, either fading out above the wheel or ending with a tapered line?

#2: Stripes highlighted with beige pintstripe (beige in order to match the color of the firewall). Probably with a second stripe above the lower bead?

#3: Scallop paint job on 1/3rd of the hood?

#4: Paint job with a complete black hood and something on the side?

#5: Scallop paint job with the front in black and stripes pointing towards the 7?

#5 Would be my fav so far?! What do you think about the stripe at the bottom?

Looking forward to hear your thoughts

    Thanks

  2. Cool old hot rod !

    #5 ,,,,,at least that’s my idea .

Lose the stripe on the bead .
And the stripe on the bottom,,,,unless you are trying to hide a blemish area .

I think number 5 looks more like it was planned out as opposed to I'm just trying to cover something up.

You mean like this, so without the long stripe on the bead?

I like it! But for some reason, the part left of the #7 looks a bit empty?!

rod-sideview-stripe7.jpg That latest one is good, but I'd stripe the 7 to bring it into the design.
You could also mask off a matching 7 in the hood so it's Red in Black.
Also consider bringing the firewall color into the scallops. I'm even worse in PS, so here's a rough idea.

  8. I’m assuming you are going to run a white outline on the black like in your pic ?
You might try it in the 7 outline and see if it matches what you like !

IMHO; I would leave the hood red.

#3 but loose the bottom stripe. I prefer small subtle accents. Prefer the hood red, helps pull the body together and flow.

If you go with more graphics then you need to change other things to make it a complete whole package....

    But that's just my opinion!!
