Yep it was always Easter weekend but they changed at some point. In 2014 it was Easter weekend.

When would that have been? In 2014 Rat City Rukkus at the Stratosphere was the same Saturday as when Viva was on. We went to both, and there was some rattier stuff at Viva but Rat Rukkus was the rat rod junk. Picnic bench seats, no suspension, bodies haywired to the chassis, etc.

 

IDK, time gets away from me these days. Probably 2or 3 years ago.

 

Heading back home now. Just got to Stateline and the car is running a little warm. Havent even got to the hot part of the trip yet.

 

the main Car Show is on Saturday. Vendors are there on Sat. The outside music is as good as the inside. Lee Rocker played all the stray cat songs.

We left yesterday at 9:30 fully loaded wagon and got toDTLA about 3:30. Had a few stops.

I'm mainly there for my wife's clothing business Finicky Fox Clothing. But we like the music and the cars so we pack up the wagon with the product.

 

Just rolled in the driveway. The car got to about 210° and stayed there for about an hour in the heat, but everything worked out fine.

 

Maybe they relaxed the rules when numbers were down because of the pandemic?

 

Rumor is that when the shifters stopped running it things went downhill. They have someone new running it.

 

I think the quality of the cars a good. It's not a ratrod show anymore.
Car move in and out during the week and some are at Valet parking most of the time.
Saturday is the main Carshow day. Otherwise you need a basic wristband to see the cars.
There was an era where the LSR was a week later and cars would caravan from VLV to LSR.

 

They definitely changed the rules this year from the past. No large diameter, billet wheels and no rat. Rods or cartoon cars allowed. I felt that this year's car show was kind of thin but I go just to see friends and have a good time.
