Projects 1940 buick

Why does back windows only roll half way down on my 1940 Buick? Was this a safety feature back then?

 

No safety concerns in 1940. I think they hit the wheel wells

 

^^^^ yep. The 2-door series 40 sedans roll down to a stop so the gl*** will not hit the wheel well. The series 40 coupes are fixed gl***, and the series 50 coupes slide down halfway.
