I like Edelbrock 500 CFM carbs..A lot of people don't like them I know, but they are very easy to tune with metering rods and jets. Lots of info on this on the net. I have 4 cars with multiple carburetion and once you have them dialed in they are as good as a single carb [or better] and a lot more fun to look at.
See post 118. Bore out the dual plane manifold, couple aluminum plates & 2 two barrel carbs. Cheap, easy to tune & looks great
I’ve have dual quads on my car for 7 years and there was no measurable difference over a single 4 barrel once I got use to driving the car. It actually improved over time.
An engine needs X amount of fuel to run at a particular speed, if the single 4 needs half throttle to achieve it a dual 4 needs only a 1/4 throttle to supply the same amount of fuel. One of my cars averaged 15.8 mpg running 3,000 rpm on an extended trip, pair of 600 Carters, 4.11 gears and non overdrive trans.
always ran dual quads just love the look, always ran Edlebrocks never had a problem just take off the tags and spray gold for a more vintage look
Little 289 I had back in high school. Never ran very well. Later in HS I swapped to an Edelbrock Crossram and it ran way worse still….
Sorry , I was commenting on the 2x500 cfm 2 bbls . My 2x4 bbldoes very well mileage wise @ 16.5 overall mpg average .
