The first bodyshop I worked was a crappy one man operation. I was 19 and the owner was a lazy ass drunk. I went to pull a straight truck out of the shop, he was in his office where a remote door opener switch was. He opened the door and I thought the door was all of the way up, it wasn't. I caught the bottom panel with the front of the box and it came crashing down. I hear him screaming. At the time I thought my world was ending. 40 years later it's a funny story.

Remember, tragedy + time = humor.

Been there, only at a trans shop. I shoved a car in they closed the door. I went out, they open it
( manual ) just not quite. Removed the bottom rail.
20 years of towing I just looked at the doorman shook my head and left.
There after, they refered to me as Tommy Dorsey.

    Garage doors? Um, yea...
My 1st job at the gas station, my boss had an old Jeep (not old enough to be HAMB friendly though). It had a manual 3 speed trans, and we were doing the annual snow plow installation for the upcoming winter plowing season.
I hooked up the wires in the front, but the plow still was not working. The fuse box was under the dash on the left side, and I was on my knees kneeling outside of the Jeep trying to check the fuses. I had to reach across the seat to turn the dash mounted key on, but I turned the key too far and hit the starter. The trans was in reverse, and that first cylinder actually fired! The Jeep jumped rearward, just far enough it dragged my out of reach to the key. As I scrambled to reach the key to turn it off, I almost reached the key before the next cylinder fired and dragged me out of reach again.
The process continued, one cylinder at a time, until the jeep covered the 8 or so feet between the starting point, and the closed garage door. As it crashed through the bottom two panels of the 18' wide, wood framed, glass paneled, door, the Jeep stalled, about the same time I finally reached the key to shut it off. As one might imagine it was a pretty big crash. I figured I was about to be unemployed. I looked over towards the boss standing by the office door to find him barely able to stand, he was laughing so hard!

His comment was that that was about the funniest thing he ever saw, watching my scrambling to try to hit the key and just not quite making it to the key, 3 or 4 times in a row. Then he said that he had never seen the old Jeep never fired off that fast before, and he had bought it new. He had me sweep up the glass, and went into the office to call someone to come and fix the garage door. Every time he saw me, all day long, he was chuckling.

He was a great guy to work for. I worked there for nearly 7 years.

The wife and I took a drive out to Shileshoal Marina a few days ago.
This is what we saw at the boat ramp.
It boggles the mind, as to how the boat owner accomplished this costly balancing act.
It is dam sure going to take a mobile crane, to get it back onto a boat trailer.
    Every ones results may vary!

A boat ramp can provide some of the best entertainment.

Or wait for high tide. Then try again with a trailer under it. Google says the tide drops 9 feet. So shouldn't be a problem.

If you all have an I-Pad that will let you zoom into the pictures, and if you all know anything about sailing and sailboats, I think you will agree, that this sailboat has obvious problems with it.

If this sailboat was being launched, obviously way too much clutter on the deck, and if it was being retrieved, the same situation applies!

All of that being said, that keel/centerboard/daggerboard, that the boat is balanced on, while strong, was never designed to handle that much sheer load, along with the weight of the boat!

When it's least expected,,, You're elected,,, You're a STAR todayyy
SMILE you're on Candid Cam' Ra !
The car into a cube video would make Allen Funt happy
Heres a quick image, One day, on a Job I had for too many years (good money)
I'm running my O/T Chevy Van on I-95 into Center-city Philly loaded with office deliveries.
I'm beating everyone's time 'til one dude in a O/T new Econoline zooms by, moves in front of me and proceeds at the posted limit.o_O
So I just claim my lead back, exercising the Rochester.
What? again I'm in 2nd place. So I get the lead and stretch it out 'til the exit at Callowhill st.
We keep this order, I turn at Cherry st ( old city narrow )
A P/U tk with a sheet panel load is losing his goods in the middle of the street.
So,, Standard M/O,, 2 left wheels on the sidewalk, passing the P/U.
In the mirror I can see my Econoline buddy.
He decides to mouth off at the guy trying to clean up his mess, while chasing me.
My next move is diving back into the street avoiding the Bollards on the sidewalk.
I then get to see a nice new Ford try to swallow a 4 foot high 8 inch wide black iron,
    cement / filled pipe:eek::p:D ( Bollard )
The bumper, the grill, the radiator spilling green juice, all made room for the Bollard, getting the driver's attention.
BTW Bollards became necessary when autos came about. The old building sometimes had storage basements that extended beneath wooden walkways.
They could not risk cars driving on the walkway. Not all properties needed or had them.

I don't know if this is still true but several years ago there was only one '57 Ford at Owens Salvage in Wellington, Texas. It is the crushed cube in the front parking lot. If you look closely you can tell what it was. I don't remember if there is a story. You'd have to ask Bob.
