  1. I am a transplant from down south, but have a swap meet space for Rhinebeck this year. How is it for the Model A and 32 ford TROG type crowd? Also looking into Rodoberfest?

Jim welcome to Rhinebeck, I've had spots there for 30 plus years and have seen a slow decline in what is happening at most swaps. E-bay, Face Book, Craigs list etc. I will always get spots there, it's a place for me to park my car and sit, all the people I know come and sit also. You have your spots so you will find out for yourself. By the way I'm in spaces P27-30 right on Broadway. Stop by.

Disclaimer: I only live 3 miles away.

Jim, I have always enjoyed going to Rhinebeck. Seems there’s a good variety of stuff for sale and a great bunch of folks doing the selling. Yes it’s true that the vintage car parts are less represented now than they had in the past, but you can still find some amazing things there nonetheless. Given where I live, Fitchburg MA, Rhinebeck, Stowe/Waterbury Vt and Hershey PA are on my annual must see list.
Pat, I’ve visited your spot a number of times and seem to remember seeing your avatar as well.
    Have fun!

After another winter of salt and sanding the roads around here, it is the first chance to drive a hot rod again even if there are some lingering snow showers happening on the way to Rhinebeck. Saturday is hot rod day, Sunday is off topic car day, but both are always very well attended.

  5. When I lived in Connecticut, Rhinebeck was a favorite meet for me to go to to buy parts. I would usually go on Friday at noon, and all day Saturday. The last time that I went it was a waste of time, effort, and money. It took me over 6 hours to get there from where I live now in Pennsylvania, and was a dis-appointment when I got there. I am 83 years old now, and now I only go to a meet that is 2 hours away or less. I guess you can say that I lived through the good times, and now times have changed. My mind is still willing to go, but my body, and brain say no.

  6. I am entered for Saturday, not to win anything, but just to be at a show where people aren't asking if it is a model T. If anyone is working on a 32 coupe, I am bringing a lot of stuff including an excellent interior and a like new rumble seat. I figure I will get to do one more car, not because I am that old, but with other interests the time and cash are thinned out. I know it won't be a coupe, so making room for roadster stuff.

Always wanted to go to Rhinebeck. Haven't made it yet. If quality swap parts are down I'd bet it also has a bunch to do with the "part wells" starting to dry up.

Finished laying out and setting up the swap meet spots Saturday and the show field gets done tomorrow. Now it's up to Mother Nature.

I missed the very first one, but have a perfect record from Meet #2. Great memories over they years. If more of the stuff I have in the HAMB classifieds sells I'd have more funds to spend this Saturday. Look forward to seeing everyone. Bob

  12. Rhinebeck is always a good time, a little bit of everything shows up.

Myself and several of the other Rodtober’Festers will be there!

Dan Hanke will be set up with a Rodtober’Fest space. Weather permitting he will have his real deal built in the 1950s Olds powered 40 Tudor, and our friend Mark will have his chopped and channeled flathead powered A coupe.

Thanks! Good to know what cars to look for. I have gray hair, a black T shirt & jeans. Bob

  14. Robert J. Palmer, say hello to Dan Hanke for me. I have not seen Dan for some time. I was instrumental in Dan getting a S.C.O.T. / Ital, flathead blower set-up.

  21. I am in the food building! :D I am coming with a ton of 1932 model B stuff. Block, Counterbalanced crank, B Head, Fuel pump, 5 Window interior, rumble seat, BB hogshead. A lot of this will work on an A.

OH! and I have 2 HAMB toppers...... in person only and they will not be on display. Introduce yourself and ask about them.

I saw Dan, didn't get a chance to talk. Saw the usual suspects I looked for Jim who started this post but couldn't find him. I'll try again tomorrow. Met my out of town friends and after walking around we left about 1:30 and went to the Culinary for lunch (I love that place). Day 2 tomorrow the saga continues.
