Where is the 200k 18 wheeler with couple rails, Ferrari to cruise & push car? I am old enough to think tow rail on open trailer then tow car push starts. Sorry old man idea. Love your cab over.

Ever notice the 55 Chevy two-tens in the background of drag photos back then.

I don't know Bob, It is clearly one of the nicest of the one year only Parklane models. The plating is all new and done at Oregon Plating, when they were in business. I can't say enough about the guy that owns and restored it, as he is a perfectionist. Of the 10 Track Roadsters I built, his was the best in it's finished state.

I got the rear end mounting brackets and frame plates fit and tack welded. I make it a point to sandwich a thin .050 spacer between the brackets, to allow for paint, and ease of assembly. The new steering box from Strange showed up, and tomorrow, Chris and I will define it's location and mounting. I have 8 days to have it on the ground and rolling, so I can take it to the Portland Transmission Spring Classic, the best local show anywhere ! I moved the axle plates to the outside, and I think it looks better. We settled on the location and mounting of the steering box. We also moved the roll cage test hoop back an inch and a half, that should making entry and exit a little easier. The area along side the left side of the transmission is tight for my foot, so we decided on removing the Low-Reverse shift fork, and remove the boss from the side. I don't need those gears anyhow. Busy this weekend on the front spring perch, and other items. IMG_0419.jpg IMG_0424.jpg IMG_0425.jpg IMG_0426.jpg

Are you doing any sort of funny car cage work above your head. That’s a lot of noggin exposed dude. I’ve clanged mine a few times and went through concussion recovery. I think I recovered just fine, my ex wife has a different opinion.

IMG_0431.jpg IMG_0432.jpg I have been sweating bullets, wondering if my friend would be able to shorten and re-spline the transmission tail shaft, due to the hardness. He did a masterful job, so now I can finalize the engine location in respect to the rear end coupler.

Did he, or does he need to re-harden? Should you have a spare just in case? Getting closer & look forward to some test passes. Will you be ready by summer end?

Marty, have you seen the 7 day forecast for weather? Sudden change mid week, and supposed to be 87 degrees for PTW show on Saturday! See you there!

My friend Dean came today and after we measured the tail shaft and did a mock up, we decided to move the engine another inch forward. On final assembly I can shorten the coupler a little for a perfect fit. After that, I made some front engine mounts out of 1/4" aluminum. I can now tack weld the brackets to the rear axle housing, and finish the front spring perch I started on yesterday. IMG_0433.jpg IMG_0434.jpg IMG_0435.jpg

I never had one of Roy's boxes, but had and steered a few with a P&S boxes. In all reality I should have modified a Crosley gear that would be more appropriate, and I have a couple of those. The good part is, it's a bolt on item, and I could change it anytime.

Got the adjustable front spring perch done, with the exception of the gussets on the front . IMG_0447.jpg IMG_0448.jpg IMG_0452.jpg IMG_0453.jpg IMG_0455.jpg IMG_0457.jpg IMG_0461.jpg IMG_0462.jpg

I finally got around to fitting the rear motor plate. Rather than trust measurements, I made a sample plate out of .050 aluminum. That way I could get it to fit, by trimming here and there, and transfer it to the actual plate, as one slip could cause a 220 dollar loss and a weeks wait. It went well, and I was able to get the majority of the chassis welding done, so I can pull it out of the fixture tomorrow. Still want to get the roll cage and steering box mounted before the show on Sat. IMG_0470.jpg IMG_0464.jpg IMG_0465.jpg IMG_0467.jpg IMG_0469.jpg
