I got this one when I was 16, at the height of the gas crisis. 1969 GTX, ran her hard for quite a few years. 19D589CC-A515-4B74-84E9-06A8EBFCB460.jpeg A8F12720-DB09-438F-9C10-AEDBB9A947FE.jpeg C7630057-0420-4146-859D-6C105BB4849A.jpeg EA52FCC2-783B-43FC-B09C-35C8EE8A0858.jpeg B463B3E7-1C04-47B5-8849-63FBDD3D34E2.jpeg CAB34C82-7608-498B-A88E-CB7D4BAB0C65.jpeg C024AED1-AA42-4986-8BFC-4666A7B8D434.jpeg

That first pic looks like it could have been taken in the late 70’s, earlier if it had a different tape in the deck. I have seen a copy of that pic several places, too bad you didn’t copyright it you’d be a millionaire by now!

Love your Chevelle, too. I had a 66 Malibu, 283 Powerglide, black with red bench interior. I should have kept it, but the tin worms had eaten the trunk floor out, what of it was left was laying on the gas tank. My metal working skills and tools were still in the future, so I traded it off for a rail dune buggy. Dumb trade, I know.

Ah the old under dash 8 tracks !! And don't forget your 8 track suitcase carrier in the back seat with the cinnamon or sandlewood air freshener (I preferred coconut) under the seat.

Although our preferred stereo equipment around here was.... Craig Power Play !... had to have the Craig 8 track and matching speakers in the rear package try !!!

Ok, I dunno about era style. However these 2 had some cues that even us diehards should like. 1st up, 69 Boss 302. "We" tend to live by stance being everything. Big n littles, lowered 1" per the Total Performance guides.

I've owned an enviable list of cars, this is the only car of that era I want back. Yeah, it was real and really fast. The development of this car has DNA from development of the iconic GT40. All the great skunkworks of Ford racing got a taste.
Next, a legit 70 Cuda 383 4spd car. I filled the side markers, painted it screaming India Red with 2 coats of blue pearl. Again, big n Littles and a bitchin stance. Hey, what's up with plain steel wheels?

Later on I added 49 Ford trim rings. Hey, gotta be true to our roots, yes?

My 66 Cutlass. Gathered up a lot of cool pieces over the years. Going to sell it and focus on the '55. 20221015_081500.jpg and the big block '72 El Camino I have now given to my son.

It occurs to me, a lotta those type cars shared were used a lot, daily drivers for us as we chased our vintage shit. It was part of the lifestyle. The Boss pic was taken at the Early Ford V8 Swap meet. Looks like Bellville...o_O

Here's the '71 boattail Rivi...when I first got it and in 2022. 455 Rochester 4bbl. Turbo 400 trans. Nothing off the line and top end for days, 120mph smooth as silk. Alas I sold Big Red and I'm onto a '68 Galaxie fastback.

Mark likes some newer stuff just as I do.
    He’s posting some.
Mark’s Chevelle is really the 60’s/ 70’s street machine classic with the Cragars.

I’ll post some more tonight as well.

I didn't take that photo. My pal Chris Ryan was here and his buddy John Jackson from non stock photography was with him. We took my Chevelle into town for lunch, John from the back seat reached up and shot that picture, I didn't even know that he did it. He is a famous magazine photographer and has shot some really high end cars. He told me that that pic from my Chevelle is by far the most shared photo that he has ever had. The weird thing about it is that most of the people sharing it think that it is a picture taken in the 70's, when in reality the same picture could be taken today.... chevelle2.JPG

Yeah, it sure gets around! Stick in a Rolling Stones tape and it’s 1966 again. Boston came out, what 76,77? I would have had either Boston, ZZ Top, or maybe Steppenwolf in my Sears AM/FM 8 track back in 76-77…

After 36 years I bought another road runner. This time a 68 with a 440 from a 69. It has the factory 4 speed but I had it completely rebuilt just 2 weeks after I bought the car then Cragar SS and white letter tires. One repaint of Turquoise (With a white painted roof).

I saw this on the Fbook, and while not a perfect photo per say, it captures a mis matched mag GTO somebody was proud of back then!
