Great event. If you’re within a few hours, check it out. This lovely was parked in the public lot. Like the Johnny Cash song, he got it one piece at a time. I think the roof and the doors give away its DNA, but how many other cars made donations? And where did the grille originate? I hope it’s not something semi- famous that I should have known about.

I actually think it's not a bad effort other than the grill which happens to belong to an earlier period of customizing. Looks like it's based on some mid-50s Mopar product.
Hey-Thats my car./truck. If anyone found the mirror that fell off it on Rt 66 give me a call. Built in mid 60's in Culpeper Va. Donor car was '55 Crown Vic rear section off 53/54 Mopar Wagon. Mopar dash also replaced original Ford Dash. Ford Y-Block replaced with Chevy 283, Borg Warner O.D. Transmission. Gas fill relocated to Drivers side. '55 Pontiac Bumpers. and tail lights. Polara side lamps that are wired to blink sequentially with rear lights. Electric rear window out of 58 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser. 46 Hudson grille bars Parked in late 60's after builder died. I've sorted it out mechanically. Wish I could of met the guy that built it. I understand he ran a 2 car garage in Culpeper Va. Was 'motor man' in Army during WWII-worked on everything from cars to Sherman tanks. He checked in with Leon's junkyard every Monday to see what wreck may of been towed in. Can't bring myself to work on the paint. It's only original once. Real deal-not one piece of billet or catalog stuff on it.

I guess I had an advantage standing next to it- I could see the Crown Victoria lurking and the MoPar touches. You get the sense the builder felt the influence of automobile styling during the late 50’s and added what he liked. I hope he had many hours behind the wheel, as passers-by looked on with puzzled looks.
It's held up well for its age so kudos to the builder on that score. I think I'd like it better if both of the bumpers were shaved smoother without the lumps and goiters........... and maybe some foglights in that center grille section to give it a reason to be indented like that. There are plenty of well-known customs that have had multiple paint color changes over the years. I'm not feeling the need to preserve that paint for any particular reason.
Every single custom is a matter of taste, even the popular ones. I see nothing wrong with this one. But I would clean it up a little.
Sat for years in a building with blue tarp thrown over it. Moisture collected on sides and popped the paint badly. on the sides. It was the shop truck for the mans garage. He also built a Studebaker Hawk in which he worked in Buick Riviera Headlamps into the front fenders. and added a padded top and landeau irons and grafted a '67 Cougar deck. Has Avanti Motor but installed Borg Warner OD tranny. 16 gauges in dash. I'm getting it on road now. The truck's nickname is 'Scrapple'
