I guess you can say the buyer made a winner? $20,000.00 is pretty darn good for the buyer, not so much for the seller...

If I wasn't married I'd park that in my living room in a heartbeat and I'm not a custom guy.

Wow, the buyer stole it! Hope he knows what he bought and doesn't change anything

A rare good buy. I'm betting the buyer is pretty happy he got it for that.

That's cheap. There is a ton of work in that car.

That was so dirt cheap, I'm a custom guy anyway but I really do like this one.

**** like this makes me want to sell my Mercury project and just hold out for an already done, historical custom to buy.

Confirms my belief "no reserve" auctions aren't for me if I were a seller.

I'm not sure I could get in it, or sit up straight once I got in it.
Driving it could be a real problem.
The though of seeing that drive into a swap meet with swap stuff in the bed makes me laugh though...

Different for sure. Wonder how much headroom there is with the top like that? Might have been better without a top? Seller had to have lost money on that sale. Just smoothing up the early bodywork and paint could easily be the $20g.
Bet you won’t park by a twin to it!

If I can't get in the ride, I can't drive it. If my head is against the roof/back gl*** and is tilted down enough I can't see the road, I can't drive it. We haven't even reached the comfort level yet.

I quit suffering for art and learning to like things that don't work years ago.

Wow…that was a steal. Sad how customs don’t bring near what is typically even in them. Hopefully whoever got it will appreciate it for the historic custom it is.

    I could handle this
Channeled my Toyota. Removed the factory seat braces, race seat mounted to the floor. Like sitting in a go cart.
I’ll just stop a little further back at a stop light.
    if I needed comfort, I’d drive a recliner :)

I wonder why it sold so cheap? Just the crowd, or are customs going down in price. I hope not.

I owned that car in unrestored shape for a couple months. It was in the Midwest, allegedly pulled out of where ever it was stored and on its way to the junkyard when someone intervened. I may have bought it from that guy off of Ebay and had it shipped to SoCal.. The car was amazingly intact. Still wearing 3 of the 4 tires you see in the show pics. I got it running..it really wanted to come back to life. I ultimately decided that other priorities ( house..kids) were more important. Sold it about 2005-2007? Anyway it was and is a *****in car. If I had known what it would ultimately sell for I would have made things happen to get it. 20k is absurd. If it was a California custom with more magazine coverage and was owned by the right people, it should have easily been a six figure car. There wasn't one panel on that car that wasn't custom.

That’d be so cool towing a front engined dragster in the same colour!
