  5. Boy, was I wrong!
When I first saw the title I thought “PFFFFTTT!” That can’t be much, sedan into a roadster?
Gotta be a hack job, right? But with a Duvall windshield?
    But then Ryan’s post hit!

OH MY! Not only is your design work amazing, but your ability to turn your idea into metal art is nothing less than what we mere mortals even think about reaching.
    It’s nothing less than supernatural.
Thank you for sharing your abilities with us!

Shifter is in stock location on the muncie. I'm going do an bench seat. There is just enough space, because the seat is going to be set as far back as possible. Shifter handle is going to be something like 55-57 chevy bench seat version.
I have to admit toploader t5 would have been much easier... Not too much of them in Finland, and zero for sale with the s10 tailshaft... And Muncie is Muncie :)

This type of bench seat could be possibility also :

Hello sir ! I did the top myself for chevy. Its done with steeltubing, canvas was made from few pieces, hold together with snap-on rivets and strips. It doesnt fold, just lift off.

    Designing the form with tape:

Finished top with finished car :

    Workin on the pedals assembly.
Had to shorten the assembly frame by an inch, to get more clearence for moving it upper, and also to get clear route for speedo wire ( the pushrods support bearing was on the way )
Then i had to build room for the distributor to be able to lift off.
Made the brackets and support frame to cowl, im going to ad couple more supports to make the cowl section sturdy IMG_20240507_193250.jpg IMG_20240507_211751.jpg IMG_20240507_193304.jpg IMG_20240507_193321.jpg IMG_20240507_211733.jpg IMG_20240508_210124.jpg IMG_20240508_210159.jpg IMG_20240508_210208.jpg IMG_20240508_210112.jpg IMG_20240508_210242.jpg IMG_20240508_210230.jpg IMG_20240508_212850.jpg IMG_20240508_212945.jpg

    Continuing with the pedals
Build an cast look throttle pedal to match the old casted I-beam style clutch and brake pedals.
Air hammered the surfaces to get that pitted look. Alltough its not an patina car, but i like the look of the old pedals
    Pedal ratio is 2:1
    Made also the mounting frame with stoppers and return spring IMG_20240510_214115.jpg IMG_20240510_223207.jpg IMG_20240510_235321.jpg IMG_20240510_235256.jpg IMG_20240511_174220.jpg IMG_20240511_164153.jpg IMG_20240511_174144.jpg IMG_20240511_174201.jpg

    Muncie rebuild is ready.
Started from the classic "straight from driving condition" to actually needing full rebuild.
Countershaft and reverse gears were toasted, wrongly assembled parts and even missing the input shaft nut, and couple broken mounts.
But in the big picture it was decent starting point, and now i know what's inside the muncie.
It has now all new bearings everywhere ( including 112 loose rollers on the countershaft), new countershaft pin, new sychros, new tailhousing bushing, reverse gears and of course new sealings.

    Heres some random pics i took during the build : IMG_20240524_211014.jpg IMG_20240525_002400.jpg IMG_20240530_211914.jpg IMG_20240601_003411.jpg IMG_20240601_003431.jpg IMG_20240601_003420.jpg

And small video clip from assembly :

Wow! What a build! Beautiful work. I would hate to see what it would cost to have to pay to get that done.

Long time no updates here, lets chamge that !
    Starting with steering parts.
Steering box is borgeson vega. Mounting it with diy bracket IMG_20240630_152356.jpg IMG_20240630_152551.jpg

    Tacked in place.
I placed the steering box close to same 7° angle as the front axle. Seemed to work best with everything in same angle, when turning full motions left to right.
And there is no space issues etc for me not to do so.
    IMG_20240701_213108.jpg

    First support bearing in place

    IMG_20240826_201656.jpg

And of course adding some personal Helminen Hotrod style to it.
    Stainless steel support bearing mount

So glad you're back. This build is Pure hot rod to the 10th Degree. Doane Spencer would be proud.(other than the chevy motor);).Mr. Detail.

Thanks you sir ! Sorry for the chevy motor :D it's for financial and availability reasons, rather than personal favour of choise.
It actually goes back in the 1928 chevy 4-banger days. It was really frustrating when nothing was available for it. When the rear axle broke it took whole summer to even get the parts. After that i thought next car is going to be sbc and basic gm drive train :)
At least its followed by manual trans !

(Im having second thoughts... why didn't i get oldsmobile rocket :D:D)
