Im looking at a 56 Ford mainline. Cars on the custom/gasser look. The car needs paint and I want to find a nice green, preferably on the darker side. Any suggestions Thanks
2 shades of green offered on '62 Buicks. Don't remember the names but dark has added flake and light has ice pearl. Technically not factory colors anymore...
I really like British Racing Green, but there is probably only a thousand different shades. Just look at my toolbox in my avatar.
When I owned this 47 Dodge business coupe, it was painted in this nice darker green paint. The person I bought it from said that the color was the same color used on "Mayflower Moving" company trucks, with a bit of metal flake in it. Depending on the light, it has a great look to it, in my opinion. The particular color green, on the 56 Chevy is also desirable as well. Your results may vary. Thanks from Dennis.
It's a 1969 color for the chevy F body car.... It's called Fathom Green Metallic.... I once owned a Z/28 with that color.....
You know those little curved forms used to 'test' paint? Those are great IF your car has a bunch of curves. If this is going to be a full paint job, with the costs involved, I'd get a small model car that's as close to your car as reasonable and try the finalist choices on it. A tri-five chevy is similar overall shape if you can't find a Ford easily. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/paint-cost.1316729/
My preference beyond BRG is green with more blue, rather than green with yellow As far as product labels good luck
Yeah, if money is no object, you can have any color you want. That's still true for the most part if you can get into a standard system. If all you can afford is stock implement paint, well you could still buy a couple quarts and mix. Here's a typical implement selection. No opinion on this brand. https://www.majicpaints.com/farm/tti/
Well Tubman beat me to it but 1967 Corvette Goodwood Green, darker green with light metallic. All Corvette colors were named after race tracks/road courses so probably available under a different GM paint name. If your superstitious it’s said to be bad luck painting race cars green or eating peanuts around them. Have no idea why.
Green hot rods and customs. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/green-hot-rods-customs.1214020/
Green is a great looking color on many cars. There are some old wives takes about green race cars and green Harley's but thats just a bunch of superstition.
2018 Nissan midnight pine is a pretty decent dark green Of course the photo would be off topic, but look it up
There is a stock '56 Ford dark green that's not too bad. Or '50 Ford Forest Green. Also '47-'64 Chev pickup dark green.
I was at a car show yesterday and saw a ‘54 Ford painted in HOC Organic Green I believe. Almost black in low light but a really rich dark green in the sun!
I had to repaint my LR fender (gas spillage), I mixed Jade Green, and Jet Black to come up with a decent match to its old lacquer paint.
Ford Model A and AA trucks were mostly rock moss green, which is darker than BRG. My '29 Model A standard coupe was Rustoleum hunter green, which isn't way too far off from that.
my 33 is Mystic Teal Metallic, its that teal/green that all the Camaro's were painted in the late 80s/early 90s Also google 2015 Camaro - Green Flash, its a really sharp dark green metallic.
Where in Ontario are you? I go to the NAPA in Belleville where they have the old Dupont book I like the greens between DS117 and DS135. The are mostly based on Henry Fords Kawanee green ranging from quite a light green all the way to almost a black green. I'd check them out. I also have a can of Endura paint called 'Air Canada Green' which we used on a set of Model A fenders. Very dark, but contrasted well with the black body. Warren
I always try and stick with a color from the same year, give or take. Although some of the modern greens are truly beautiful in my opinion they just don’t look right on a 67 year old car. Berkshire green, Pine Ridge green are darker oem colours.
Custom & Gasser = metallic paint so go for the Dark Highland Green of the Bullitt Mustang - keep it Henry. You could use the Eruption Metallic Green from the new Bronco if you want it a little lighter. https://www.ppg.com/autocoatings/en-US/color/history-of-color Color in the 1950s People started showing off their cars and their personalized colors. Brighter colors started to be introduced, such as flashy yellow, blue… Some even started two-tone car bodies. Fashion was in full effect.
Find out what color the Sam Barris Merc is painted (see Rodder's Journal, Issue #29), and go from there.
