Can anyone recommend a rebuild manual for the Ford/Merc-O-matic? My ‘62 Mercury shop manual has a section, but it’s not very thorough IMO. In the past I’ve found aftermarket manuals to be helpful. Seems like all the books written are for the newer C4 and C6.
    Thanks

  2. You might check with Fatsco transmission parts. They will also have the parts that you will need.

Oh, and this is a ‘62 aluminum case 2speed. I guess the ‘59 and earlier were different.

don't be surprised if it's the chapter out of the merc shop manual.

Maybe you just don't have experience with automatic transmissions in general, and would like the extra info in a thick book? :) if so then get one for a C4 or C6 and read the thing through, and then apply your new general knowledge to the specific info in the 62 manual.

    I’ve only done a 700r4 before.

Look for a Blue Motors Manual for 1963. I’m sure it will cover back to 59 when they were first used in the big Fords…
