So I'm sure most of us have an old 60's-80's truck around the house or shop. I've had a few that were slightly off topic. I love them, and I'd love to see what everybody else has. Here are a few of the ones I've had in the past. Post up your pick-ups. 20191111_192147.jpg 20200116_173131.jpg 20180815_154220.jpg

My 70 F100 is in pieces right now, getting prepped for paint inside and out.

    The new color.

  4. A few I have had. I’ll scan some more pics later.

  6. This is my daily with 140,000 miles I have been driving since I finished it in 2005.
    290HP 350 Crate motor, with a built 350 trans, and a stock 3:07 rear.
It's a fun truck to drive.

I drive black pickups as dailies, and I make them earn their keep.

Here's my 71 C20 I rescued when I lived in Abilene KS. Was on craigslist for $400. Didn't run, no bumper or windshield. My brother in Connecticut called the guy, got him down to $300 and delivered to my place. 350 4bbl 4 speed.
    20240303_111424.jpg

I got it running. The battery to starter cable was wrapped in electrical tape and underneath was all corroded. Swapped on a new cable and it fired right up. Put in a new windshield and gasket. Drove it for a few months until it dropped a rod cap on the way home from work one day.

It sat for awhile until i pulled the motor and had it machined. Von Beemer, local dirt track and hot rod engine builder put the motor together. RV cam and some crazy milled heads he had on a shelf. Put on some old glass packs off an old wheat truck and it sounds really good.

I bop around doing yardwork with it and use it to gather maple sap when I boil to make maple syrup.

Side note: this truck was sold new at Sullivan Chevrolet in Salina Kansas, about 25 miles from my farmhouse. At the time I worked in the building that was part of the former dealership.

    I need some correct hubcaps.

This is the truck that I built during COVID. I built it to compete in Hot Rod Drag Week and I was accepted but I was unable to participate. My wife and I did compete in Rocky Mountain Race Week with the truck. We drove it 1,000 miles in 5 days and we raced at 5 drag strips. It was a lot of fun and if I was a young man, I would be competing in more drag and drive events.

It is a Ford Range Splash. I installed a 460/C6 combo with lots of other modifications. To comply with the Hot Rod Drag Week class, I had to install the engine and transmission in such a way as to not cut the floor or the firewall. That was a challenge. 10. Here's mine over the years: '76 F-250, '87 F-350, '90 F-350. All were 4WD 460 four barrels, 4-speeds, 4.10's although the '90 was a 5-speed with electronic fuel injection which I hated. All had 16" rims with 39" Monster Gumbo Mudders.

  11. The only new vehicle I have ever bought for myself. Will likely be the last one as well.

  13. Thanks. I pretty much just bought it to make a buck. It was a 348 car all in pieces when I got it. Amazing what some primer, scallops, whitewalls and putting all the trim on did for it. I never did try to get it running though.

  15. By year, this is OT, but by body style, it is on topic. Anyway, I miss this one that I sold a few years back. It was a fun beater.

I loved my 66 as well. It too was just a beater. Someone liked it more than me, but that's what happens. Like my dad says, " You can't keep em all "........

*if you zoom in on the Ford pic you can see the Chevrolet Bowtie anttena topper ball I had on there to rile the blue-oval boys. Musta worked. Somebody removed it for me and probably threw it in the garbage.

Needs slot mags and mud terrains.. but it's been a good truck so far! Named it "night moves" for obvious reasons.

  22. Love this one! It reminds me of a light blue 68 stepside that I had that was similar. That is another one I miss!

Feels weird posting this on the HAMB but it has a stick and it’s lowered so there’s that.

After driving a company car for 21 years I got the “bring your laptop, company tools and car keys” meeting, so I needed cheap wheels quick. Had only 40k miles and there were still marks on the original Firestones from sitting flat. Transmission went bang on the drive home, the fluid looked like grape jelly. I think the owner may have gotten their keys taken away judging by the minor dents on every corner.

That said it’s been great since fixing stuff and dropping it, good tires and wheels etc. Recently I mentioned to my wife that I wanted to start looking for an old Ford pickup. Her sage reply, “honey you already drive an old Ford”. Point is this is older than the ‘65 F-100 I won’t shut up about back when that was my daily. Time flies!

Wish we could still get wide 16 inch BFG sport truck T/As

  25. Thanks man! I bought that pickup my senior year in high school. It had the slots but was gray and sat higher. I did a quicky paint job and lowered it. I guess that was actually my first lowered pickup.

Well it sure sits right. And slots look so good on those trucks.

Get in where ya fit in. It works for me. Here's my 66 Elco, as you can see I have flat spot syndrome, if there is a flat spot, I tend to set something in it. IMG_20240521_101550.jpg
