Well I'll explain myself. I have a spare ignition module, and coil, and when I hit the road in any of my cars, I generally take bolt on stuff with me. Always prepared lol. I have a nice point distributor that Mark Moriarity sent me as a gift, because we covered his tricycle seat lol. This old truck will be sold either in Bowling Green, or after I get back, so I can build another straight axle car. I don't wanna put that distributor in it because I want to put it in my big block and stick that in my next project. So there's my thought process. I drove about 20 miles today, had a spark knock, probably because I didn't check the setting on the vacuum advance, I unhooked it and the ping went away. The truck pulls so good for what it is, I'm happy as a puppy with 2 peckers. :D:cool:

  2. The rake with the air shocks is perfect. The transmission tunnel is a work of art, you guys who can bend metal just amaze me. When I try that, I end up with a piece of scrap. If she sells at Bowling Green, Little Truckdoctor and I will give you a lift home.

Bad idea Lloyd. I learned a long time ago...NEVER sell your hot rod in the summer 'cuz you won't have anything to drive to shows:eek:. Start collecting parts for the new project now, sell the truck in the fall, and build the new ride over the winter.

Wassup Jack!! I'm only going to the reunion and Lloydfest, no since in it sitting around, easier to sell when the weather is nice :D and if it doesn't bring what I want, I'll just keep it and letter my shop name on the doors

No it's an electrical zzzzzccchhhhiiiittttttt sound when you hit the key. Ever had the buss bar screw loosen up in one? That's kinda how it sounds. All good. Fix it tmrw. Probably gonna get one of those factory mini starters, @427 sleeper what did you tell me those came on? Tackett towing does free towing for police officers and fireman, so it didn't set me back any. Truck was running so damn good! Went in captain D's to eat, came out and voila! DOH! lmao!

Get a starter for a 96 K-1500. They're a permanent magnet gear reduction deal, and usually last for quite a while. ;) For as long as you keep your ride's, you'll never have to put another one in it, that's for damn sure! :D

Oh yes. Price went up on me, had to pay $125! But it's sitting out here in the parking lot at the firehouse, I drove it today. I redone my cooking fan also, and made an air dam to force air through the radiator. The temp sensor is in the head, hottest it's gotten is 210⁰. I'm gonna put a 180 thermostat in it tmrw sometime.

Did they say what was wrong with the old starter? If it has a lifetime warranty, inflation shouldn't affect what you have to pay. I had a problem with them once. They told me the lifetime warranty only replaced the part once. It was almost 15 years between failures so I called up higher in the company and they replaced it. It isn't a one free replacement warranty they are advertising so the replacement should put everything back to like new and still under warranty.

No I checked it after I took it off, it was screwed. It was the starter that I bought for my elco, but it touched the header. I don't know if it had heat damage, and it just now showed up, but I wanted the small hi torque starter anyway.

  28. how much you gonna ask for the truck?

  29. I put one of those on the 496 in my Henry J, spins it over great.
