Art & Inspiration Adjusting a Carburetor Advice

I just read the following advice in the 1919 printing of the ****s Engine Encyclopedia and thought I'd share it with you:

"The first and most important thing to learn about any carburetor is to let it alone as long as it is working properly."

****s is the guy that invented the float with needle & seat mechanism for carburetors, a**** other stuff.

 

No. We can all make it better!

 

We've been ignoring that sage advice ever since!

 

My father-in-law was an expert at doing preventive maintenance until it was broke.

 

I'll bet he also thought it was best to not worry about how a carburetor looked, as opposed to how well it worked.

 

If it aint broke I'll keep fixing it until it is !
