Originally built by Mike Mason, member of the Amblers in Mpls-St. Paul and charter member of the Minnesota SRA. It was featured in a couple of magazines in the early '70s, had gone through a couple of owners before it wound up in my neighborhood. Powered by an aluminum Buick V8, Jag rear, it was subsequently owned by two of my buddies. The last owner sold it to another guy in the area who then relocated and the car basically disappeared. My guess is it's still around, covered up in somebody's garage, somewhere.... it would sure be cool to see it out on the street again.
Really nice one for sale. Of course, there are some things I'd change, but wanted to share this shot, because it's not often seen and this one is CLEAN! https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/morgan-hill-1923-ford-bucket/7745890616.html
top side. Dig the 18 (?) fronts, tight front end although there is a big gap between the rad and engine.
My Uncle started building his T bucket in High school. I want to say the first version was finished in '68. Car has been burned into my mind ever since I was a young kid. It was EVERYTHING a hot rod should be....Chrome with flake paint button tuck interior, Race Master slicks, Edelbrock Tunnel ram etc....Engine is a 302 sbc he bought brand new, over the counter at GM (when they still had a plant in Framingham, MA). Rear end is chromed '57 tri-5 axle. Just the best T around (in my eyes). Attached is a picture of the car from the 70's and second picture is me at 6 months old in the car behind the wheel.....yes, I was really born into this and condemned at a very early age!!!
Heck of a deal, although I don't get "needs wiring, steering column and interior"? Too bad it's 18 hours and 1200+ miles away. https://portland.craigslist.org/yam/cto/d/lafayette-1923-ford-bucket/7742476616.html
Found another Specialty Cars bucket feature. https://www.motortrend.com/features/bucket-that-bolts-march-1981-982-1342-27-1/photos/
This one came into a shop I used to work at. The owner was the grandson of the original builder. He kinda ruined it with repaint and the wrong wheels/tires, but I guess it's his to enjoy now.
A ride in a T-bucket with a blown small block when I was probably 13 or so is part of what ruined me. When he launched it and it lifted the left front tire about a foot, I was hooked.
When I first saw Varni's trackster, I always wondered about a version with a 13B or even a four-rotor...talk about your pocket rocket.
That’s a Barry Grant Aero Ram. I’d love to get my hands on any/all of the various Barry Grant SBC intake offerings. They are quite rare and are supposed to work really well. That particular intake had interchangeable tops, allowing you to have a variety of different looks from the same intake.
OK, so who remembers "wet look" vinyl fabric from the '70s? Jarvus Bounds liked it so much, he had his Fad T, "Easy Pickup," filled up with the stuff. This feature, from the January, '77 issue of '1001 Custom & Rod Ideas' magazine, seared the brain of a college kid. And how about those multi-color pinstripe flames? Way cool...
I didn't fart, it was the seat! It's funny, I'm going back through the original Ugly thread and just stumbled across a T I saw for sale this year. The OP was new and asking about the car and if it was a Dan Woods build. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...glifying-thread.824491/page-348#post-12408803
So I doubt anyone here doesn't know, but I did get the one I was trying for previously. EDIT: sorry, @Sharpone thread is removed.
Let's visit 1966 for some T action - these are from the Spring, '67 issue of 1001 Custom & Rod Ideas magazine. First up, Lee Everett's T:
Bob Anzalone (R.I.P.) built this one in his garage. It debuted at the 1978 Detroit Autorama where it won the Ridler Award. Anyone know where it is today?
Carl Kuznia’s blown Hemi T. I picked up the first photograph a little while ago. It was taken at the Street Rod Nationals in ‘72.
I built this one about 20 years ago. California Custom Roadster body, Ansen Sprints, Ford 9", 350sbc, TH350 trans, home made chassis.
@65pacecar those are some funny looking T buckets Lol I’ll bet you meant to post on thread one up Cool cars though Dan
Lits of customizing to make a T Bucket look like that. Not sure what happened, meant to post on Mopar or No Car thread. Deleted now and moved over
