It's an early VW. 1953 was the last year (I think) with the semaphore turn signals. You can see it in the door frame, long rectangle outline.

it appears to me that there is plenty of leg room in this vehicle !

Nope...not me....not gonna do it! Took BIG balls to put that thing together!!!

 

Those women (and hundreds of thousands more) played a MAJOR role in our WW II home-front effort! They are to be commended.

 

I'd say there's plenty of leg.... not sure about the room.
