Well, it’s high time that this gentleman gets to drive his beloved ‘29 Pickup. He’s had a few people waste his time and not get around to it, making excuses etc. It was even shipped to California for 5 years where it languished in a corner. I met Bill a while ago at a cruise; I was there with my ‘30 Tudor “Elizabeth” where we struck up a conversation and he told me about his pickup sitting out in California. We would chat once in a while via email and see each other at a cruise night here or there. I hadn’t heard from him for a while, maybe like 3 years and I reached out to him and asked how his truck was coming along. Well, it was finally shipped back from California, sadly, with not much progress. Now, Bill is in his 70’s and has had this truck since high school! I want nothing more than to see him driving this thing down the road with that shit eatin’ grin we get with a hopped up flatty blasting through town. So, I’ve dedicated myself to making his dream come true, with no bullshit stories like “yeah, I’m waiting on blah blah part” knowing damn well there were no positive intentions. I’ve got the steering set up to accommodate the full fenders he wants, I’ve already designed and fabricated the the clutch linkage and brackets for the hydraulics, I’ve started on plumbing the brakes etc. I’ve converted to open drive with LaSalle trans. I thought you guys might enjoy the story and progress on this special project.
I will be checking in time to time with more progress. Thanks for checkin’ in fellas!

  5. I'm excited to see each step. I got a '29AA saga that celebrated its 50th anniversary of purchase yesterday so I know something about deferred gratification. Please, more, soon.

  6. Good on you for helping him!
I had a '28 in high school, but it sure as hell didn't look that good!

Good on ya! Sweet lil truck. I'm interested in hearing about your experience with the Unisteer, from install, to final performance, as well as ratio (what length steering arms work well).

    Thanks

I've just got one more question: what color is it for a U.S. shell?

It’s now the Elm Terrace retirement and rehab home. Was the old North Penn Hospital. I can spit to it from my garage!

As far as I know they only Blue for US and Europe. I’m sure someone more knowledgeable than me will clarify.

Okay just curious. BTW I never knew the background is blue. Probably has something to do with the fact that I have a bit of a problem with the blue end of the spectrum. It's all shades of grey to me until the greens, and I'm not sure that I see them like "normal" people. And that explains a lot about me...

    Oh well, doesn't matter...

Sorry Dave! You have my complete empathy…seriously. Wish there was a way to accommodate you. Yes, it does matter to those of us that at least have some type of empathy. I hope you stick around for more progress on the ‘29.

Hey thanks! I've been this way my whole life. It's not going to keep me from enjoying your progress reports. Just don't ask me to pick out a paint scheme for you. Well, unless you want it to look like Herb Tarlec's suits on WKRP in Cincinnati...

IMG_5198.jpeg IMG_5197.jpeg IMG_5193.jpeg Just some brake plumbing. I wanted to make wheel cylinder replacement as easy as possible. At the same time making sure there is adjustable clearance if needed. Firewall bracket for hydraulic lines, so no need to drill firewall and I’ll figure out some bracketry to support lines coming off backing plates. We’ve all sat there and spun the wheel cylinders around to unscrew lines…this will eliminate that and keep it easy for clips on frame brackets. Everything is subject to change of course, depending on how the dominos fall, but I’m sure this will work. Thanks for checkin’ in fellas and hang out for more! Sorry fellas, if there’s doubles, I’m done dealing with going back and editing. We’re all grown ups and you get it. It’ll happen again, not editing anymore… my apologies in advance for any future bumbles… and I’m still waiting for Mart…

Still temporary, but you guys get the idea. I’ll be adding to the bracket to capture the clutch hose too. Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!!
