My first car in highschool was a yellow ‘66. This is the only pic I have of it-a Polaroid ! My current ‘71 And though not a GTO, my current’63 LeMans
I got it 2 years ago out of Colorado. Don’t really know it’s history beyond the previous owner, but it’s 100% solid. No rust or filler anywhere. It’s got a ‘69 Pontiac 400 and the original transaxle driveline. 2.69 gears out back are great for my rural area. It’s not quick off the line, but. it’s nice for all the 60-70 mph driving I do out here. I took it on a 400+ mile run with some other H.A.M.B. members a few weeks back, and it was getting over 20mpg until we hit the more suburban areas by Milwaukee. Averaged about 18 for the entire trip combined. Yeah, in my older age, mpg and reliability are a thing.
A daydream car of mine would be a Ram Air Judge. Preferably the sedan body, posi, 4 speed and gauges. Bucket seats and nuttin' else! No power steering or any other unneeded part.
Sweeeeet!.... It kind of makes me wonder how many installed 421s in their goats back in the day.... I know Royal Pontiac did a few 428 transplants in the late '60s..
What a weirdly photoshopped picture. Here's a bunch from the MCACN show in 2019. I love all the Ram Air cars.
I also had a 2006 GTO for a short time. Traded into it. Very modified 405 stroker, 6 speed. Probably close to 500 rwhp NA, I joked the only GM part on the engine was the block. Very fast, but just didn't excite me enough. Thought it would be neat gaving my 68 and the new one. But sold the new one because I just prefer my old cars.
