What OT crap are you working on

    Los Control, the hatch is fully functional. The design flow photographs better with the hatch closed. Once open, I can gain even more room by folding the rear seat down. I have hauled antiques, car parts and even apples last fall from my Brothers farm.

  2. That thing is cooler than the other side of the pillow!

    @raymay What other car did you use the roof section and hatch from or is it all custom built sheetmetal?

    A year or so ago I developed a knock at the front of my recently rebuilt Pontiac 406, I tried to diagnose where it was coming from but it sure sounded like the number one or two rod was knocking. I slept on it and looked at again the next day. I barely noticed an almost imperceptible movement in the (aluminum) water pump pulley, I got out a strong flashlight and looked at it a little closer. The pulley had two bolts that were slightly loose and the belt tension was pulling the pulley away from the pump when those two bolts were at the top of the revolution and slamming it back into the water pump flange when they were at the bottom of the revolution. It was amazing how much it sounded like it was coming from the bottom of the engine but with Pontiac water pumps being mounted to the timing covers it was probably transferring the noise. Tightened up the bolts and no noise, BIG relief.

    Just changed out the drivers side header gasket on my 70 Grand Prix. No vehicle lift so it was under the car, then back out, then back under the car, and so on. Wasn’t a terrible job, but the access to the bolt behind the center D-ports made it take about an hour or so longer than it should have. I knew something was amiss because the O2 sensor had started reading way lean.

    I am almost finished up with this 79 Malibu. I had one of these as my first car back in ‘88 and have had a number of them over the years. This one has ls2 with a magnuson supercharger, 6 speed and a GN rear end. Big sway bars, tall ball joints, wilwood brakes. I’ve got nos dog dish caps for it and a radio delete plate. Trying to make it sleepersih.

    I love saying I'm doing something in my older retirement ..... just not particularly proud of what I'm working on.
    Even a wife should have a car and am working on it.
    we all installed a good running engine in our past to keep a car running.
    So I'm installing a used engine in my wife car .... I actually did this once before and got burned with a bad engine.

    So now I'm installing the 2nd used engine and just have zero faith in used engines right now .... 1rst one ran perfect for 50 miles.

    Just a lot of work to pull a engine out the top when meant to come out the bottom.
    A wise young man would have finished the job today ..... Me a lazy old fart will get it done in 2 or 3 days ....... I'm just scared to start this thing up because I did this before and got burned with a junk engine ...... Keep me in your thoughts .... I'm hoping this 135K mile engine turns out ok .... they typically go 300k miles for this engine.

  12. Finally trying to figure out why my Chevelle started running like crap a couple weeks ago or so. First, I went to check the timing and was able to spin the distributor fairly freely. Then, I pulled the cap to find a ton of corrosion. Then, I decided to pull the distributor to find a worn gear on top of all that other stuff. I may have found the issue(s)… :rolleyes:

    Fix it again, Tony! my free 76 Fiat 124 Spider, that came with two really rough parts cars.

    I'm playing with the engine out of one of the parts cars. The engine in the car smokes a bit, and oil pressure drops to almost nothing at hot idle.

    The MSD in my race car (SBC) gets condensation in the distributor cap, I’ve never had it on any other distributor and can’t really work out why, it seems to be from the crankcase.

  16. From what I think I see...that little black cap on the top of the distributor cap may be a vent even? I haven't looked at it close yet, but couldn't come up with another reason for it.

    I put the '33 Austin Seven Ruby on a Bantam frame so I could call for a VIN inspection on the body before I spend too much time and money on a project that could be thwarted by the DMV.

    Polished out the front fenders on my wife’s 41 pickup after the AC guys marred em up

    re-clocked the steering box in my roadster that thought it was in a corner when it was trying to go straight

    heated up the plastic lower (not paint) front bumper extension and pushed out a dent some moron put in it, weaned and polished the scratches out

    polished the front end of my Silverado, I did the back half last week. It’s a two dayer

    fixed the front sprinklers before my lawn turns yellow

    replaced the front yard light controller so my damn landscaping lights work

    it’s 3:00 now and time to go fit a drive in the roadster and grab a beer….i mean ice cream. RIP Al

    I picked this old guy up in the Syracuse NY area...it is about ready to get sent on to its next destination...I really enjoy working on rusty old Jeeps...just wish they were more fun to drive...

    Cant have it all but I call him Dave Whitcomb because the former owner had it since 1957 and that was his name...

    a hulled out rambler 220 street car. been down for about 9 months fighting a infection in my knee. don't have knee hardwear right now so walking is very hard and unstable and at this point i don't know where it is going, just can't seem to get rid of the infection. don't want to loose my leg but it may be my future. anyway the car is way ot with the parts being used, but a pic for yall, . 20230715_151458.jpg

    Finished this one up last month, right now just turning up the boost and tuning. 55 Special I bought at auction a couple years ago out of a barn auction, not on the road since 71. Fixed all the rust in the floors and trunk, jaguar IFS, truck arm rear suspension, 8.8 posi rear, complete rewire, etc.. little 4.8 with ring gap, amazon cam, and a VS racing 7875. Its amazing what these engines can do for so little cash.
