013.jpg 010.jpg Damn I never fit in anywhere! I should go kick rocks....:p;) I think I joined this group when I was 40:D the guys who "brought it back" @Ryan etc. were already done building and people were already posting about the "death of the hobby" seems to me they were mostly bitter because they didn't get to cash in on the astronomical prices guys were getting for awhile and their '75 Bricklin wasn't moving fast enough...
How bout this: 2024 Kal tire parking lot weekly rod show...tons of beautiful hot rods many many $60 -150 K cars w shiny paint jobs all owned by silver tips....I picked up a cast off '57 pontiac more-door got it running and flipped it to a friend...he fixed the lights, screwed some sheetmetal to the floor, his wife sewed up the ripped seats and he DROVE up to the show with his 6 yr. old... thumbs up and swiveling heads all the way...instant crowd! warts, rust holes, bondo and all! not only that but the only group of teenagers there gravitated to the car 3 separate times! He DRIVES this car, takes his son to school in it and goes for ice cream....if you're a mechanic, machinist, welder, or body person there's a 80% chance there is a "car/truck project" of some kind in your life...we need to stop separating ourselves into little enclaves and give a shit about what other people are doing...
you see mini-trucker, lifted 4x4, drift car guy...I see FUTURE HOT RODDER

There was a young man from Chicago area as I recall, danged if I can remember his HAMB name, he’d bought a 55-7 Chevy 4 door wagon and put a 283/? in place of the 6.
He was going to a trade school, not a lot of time. Had to keep rolling the car in/out of his parents garage.
Been a few years since he posted updates, so not sure what happened to it.

Edit: his name had a spin on pineapple.

Some of you may have seen one or two of these pictures before. My 35-year-old son. All of the cars are his and he has done 98% of the work (although there may have been parts help from Dad's Speed and Machine). 2019-12-14_215622 (3).jpg 55012 (2).jpg 49006 (2).jpg 362231590_1686626755145871_4036132968221061518_n.jpg

  11. This is our fellow car club member Clay's Model-A coupe. He just graduated high school! Our car club made Clay a member when he was 16! Been around cars his whole life. Our club helped chop his coupe in late winter. He was bound and determined to have it done by graduation! He did have it finished except for a few hiccups! Clay got excepted to WyoTech in the fall. He will be taking courses in HotRod building, upholstery. Here are a few pix! 445075044_122146140500051345_1872052484902970390_n.jpg 445586311_122146140590051345_2416194816063804975_n.jpg 445034363_122146140728051345_4061951296640917424_n.jpg 440854866_122143622522051345_5965172814059950776_n.jpg 441950720_122143622408051345_7121126862174720378_n.jpg 440414293_122143748198051345_4727856997296131840_n.jpg 433551399_122137504418051345_1439132872466625941_n.jpg 432428626_122137503890051345_5957042048522808055_n.jpg

I don't think that hot rodding is dyeing. I think that it is morphing along lines that I don't appreciate, especially when I an reminded that I am a dinosaur and no longer relevant. Then a kid comes out of no where and screws one of these together. I am still a dinosaur and am probably no longer relevant, but I am not too concerned about hot rods going the way of the Dodo.

  16. Am I even allowed to have a build thread for my Model A?

Its got *peeks around and whispers* coilovers

I'm honored to be included in this. But I'd have to nominate @ZerroHalfcup and his roadster build! Not sure of his age, but I'm sure he's young enough

YES! it was so nice to meet your son and see you guys having fun at the Roc a couple years back!

    Dang! that's cool!

A plethora of neat vehicles! and some good family time never hurt, I've permanently borrowed many things from my dad over the years...

Holy cow! he's going places! that's a slick ride!

I wont tell if you won't... I think what's going on in the front far outweighs the rear suspension. . .

Man! what a lineup! for anyone like me who wants to see aforementioned threads,
    Truck HERE
    57 HERE
    ranchero HERE

Thats the spirt! his roadster thread is one i've been following too!

    Thread HERE

Personally I think the biggest thing we can do to help people stay motivated on projects is to COMMENT on their threads, Likes are nice, but they don't bump a thread to the top and get things rolling like a comment about the work, or the style, or even just the character of a project that is being worked on! even if its just a "GO MAN GO!" we need to keep build threads at the top, and push the irrelevant threads out of the front pages.

  23. I'm on the cusp but I still feel 25.... and everyone knows what my junk looks like so I'll save ya that.

But I will say, that my buddies kid(14) is getting to wrench and play with a model A/T touring project I have. Basically letting him build it. The future is gonna be alright.

I'm closing in on my mid 40's & am tinkering with a beater A rpu just like I had in my 20's, I still think I'm a young'n, or at least that's what my mind thinks, I guess it's all a matter of perspective!

Just keep moving, before long you will be in the 70’s and wonder how can I finish this project.

  27. The local high school auto shop had an end of the year party and invited a couple of us to bring some old cars. Lots of interested kids with lots of questions.
The auto shop has been working on the A sedan for years. It's finally on the road and almost done.
Hot rodding will be around as long as cars exist....
