Since we're on the topic of off topic VW. My girlfriend, later wife, had a VW Automatic. Her uncle had a dealership. I think he sold it to her dad because he couldn't get anyone else to buy it. It wasn't really an automatic, it was a 3 speed with a fluid clutch. H pattern 3 speed floor shift. There was no clutch pedal. If you just barely touched the gearshift lever it would go into neutral. It had a large brake pedal in a limited space for feet. So naturally you would go for the clutch when you went to shift it...but hit the brake instead. It's not far to the windshield in those things.
In 24 years keeping VWs alive for folks, I changed half a dozen Autostick cars to 4 speed. Most we used Neal hydraulic clutch stuff on, but found that a few had a tube already in place.
