    Hello,

During our 1940 Willys Coupe C/Gas 671 SBC motor build, we were enjoying the ins and outs of being in the hot rod world. The people we met along the way were nice to us, even as teenagers with a full future ahead. So, we were happy and tried to figure out a way we could get more involved and perehaps create a possible future for us, or at least one of us. My brother was already talking college and he is/was as stubborn as “all get out,” so that was music to my mom’s ears, but left me in the lurch.

One of the things we created was a small speed shop to get discount parts for our build. It was not to be in competition with Mailliard Engineering Shop or Reath Automotive for business. My brother called it “Precision Racing Engines,” not a speed shop per se. It was primarily for us and our close friends for discounts. Every penny for the teenagers was important. But, as we did purchase some products for our friends as a good discount, it became obvious that it might be a road to the future.

So, with the memory still flashing around in my old brain, I drew what I thought we were going to do as a future vocation. A small version of Mailliard or Reath Auto with local business and perhaps another drag race car/truck to advertise the name.

This time, a 1939 Willys Truck with a supercharged SBC motor and Precision Racing Engines, Long Beach, CA on each door. It was an image/picture I could not get out of my mind… the next level of drag racing adventures along with an increase in the hot rod world.

Who knows, instead of Jeg’s High Performance, it could be Nak’s High Performance with a www/Naks.com web presence… all from a favorite picture…

  11. May have posted this before... I dunno, but it's worth posting again.

This is one of my favorite pics and it literally says "hot rod" right on it. :D

Just look at those hooligans!:cool::cool:
The pic is also very interesting to me because it was taken locally. Corona is right up the road.

  12. I believe that is Barris' shop on Compton Ave.

I fell in love with the original version of the car when it was in Hot Rod magazine E91A4DB0-8895-4719-AC62-E8672BF27C02.jpeg
