I've never heard of Midway City. But after seeing the squiggly white line it must be Southern California.
I remember them. They painted them that way so in the dense So Cal fog you know you're approaching an intersection.
I remember driving with my door open in the fog looking down at the white line

 

I could have gone without seeing that.

 

Not exactly a tropical paradise.
