Howza Bruthas! I LOVE station wagons. I learned to drive in my parents 1977 Dodge Aspen wagon. They had purchased it brand new, too. Tan, simulated wood sides, Magnum 500's, tan interior, with the plaid inlays, split bench with fold down arm rests. It had a 318 backed by a 727 and I could light the right rear tire up! It looked very similar to this- Eventually, the old girl had driven her course and was sent off to that long roof parking lot in the sky. Flash forward to about 2005, I am on the hunt for a new daily driver. I really wanted a Falcon, Fairlane or a Comet wagon, but, man they were too pricey and out of reach. And out of nowhere, there he was. Parked on the side of the road, on that rain soaked Pacific Northwestern day (well, there are a lot of those). I pulled over to have a look see- it looked like a Fairmont, yet, the front sheet metal was different. The car was in great shape, and had a split bench, a 3.8 carbed V6 too. Not a rocket ship by any means, but, I liked the car. The price tag was $1,400. Right in my budget, so, I made a deal and have been driving Clark since. I've added dual exhaust, cut a coil up front, and scored the Ansen Slotted mags here at All American Classics, when a 1985 Thunderbird parts car came in through the gates. So, show me you grocery getters!!
I’ve wanted a fox-body wagon for a long time - that one looks like a perfect grocery getter. Two of my sons shared this escort for several years, made many long distance trips without missing a beat. It’s still running around Milwaukee county, probably should’ve kept it.
Spooky, that stance is spot on and I dig the ansens! I have one word for you…paneling. Oh yeah! Family truckster
Haha. I can’t believe I can finally find a place to post this picture! My dad bought this Mercury wagon brand new back in ‘88. It has a 302 in it. It was his daily driver. When he passed away back in ‘90 my mom moved from Chicago to Tucson and it became her driver. She was retired, so didn’t hardly put any miles on it and my brother did most of her shopping and errands for her. She had a legitimate garage down it Tucson, not the popular carport thing. She passed about 20 years ago and my brother would drive it occasionally. Well, bro passed and so it sits down in Tucson in the garage still. My sister bought the condo and wants to know if I want the car. SURE! But haven’t gotten down there to drive it back yet. Crap I’m in Wisconsin, I’d have to plan on taking a week off and making sure it’s roadworthy for a trip like that. It’s in really good shape, but has that barn find dirt all over it in the picture. But after it sitting all these years, I have to plan on new tires, changing all fluids and filters, ect too
Looks great. Since he’s Clark, you can tie a bag with Auntie in it on the roof rack, instead of a surf board.
