I cringe at how much $ could’ve been made from gm nos sheet metal if bought then , prob more than the value of cars themselves

That was a perfect camaro! Damn!

  3. The 2nd time I had my 68 in the Forest Grove Concourse, I was parked next to a 68 Z/28 that had one of these that was dealer installed when it was delivered. The original owner then took it and had it all chrome plated. Forgot to snag a pic of it, but it was quite shiny.

Did you have this car in the roadster show in the convention center? Like around 2008/2009? I recall a car just like it when I entered my 68 for the first time in the roadster show. Finished behind that hugger orange 69 and then Pat Ownes 69 Turquoise big block car.

Here's one from the way back file, taken in my backyard. My wife (and BanOne) in her wedding veil, my white Stetson on the CB antenna. "I take my hat off for one thing, and one thing only"

With few exceptions I’ve always liked the front end styling of the Camaros and the Firebird’s rear sheet metal. I wonder if anyone ever modified a Camaro to see?

We had a Frankenstein POS 69 firechicken running around town a number of years back with a Camaro front end. I think someone finally put it out of its misery.

To borrow a lyric from Zep it looked Dazed and Confused. Non car folks probably didn't notice. I cringed every time I saw it.

I agree that firebirds and T/As have a great tail end. The slotted/louvered look is classic. The "batman" front end on the 77/78 TA was great, I never cared for the 79 nose job.
    My likes (I know you didn't ask for it :cool:) are;
    67-69 Camaros, I've had 28 1st gen Camaros, no Firebirds. 69 T/A? ;)
70-73 Pretty much dead even, they both rocked! Slight edge for the poncho's shaker and formula scoops over the camaro flat hood. Loved the Camaros round tail lights! But round lights on a TA? o_O
    74-76 Pontiac big time, biggly.
    77-78 SE Trans Ams :)
79-81 Disco Z28's for the win in my book.
Combining the styling would be tough to pull off in my opinion. Easy to do since the parts are almost all interchangeable but I am afraid it would end up looking like a VW beetle with a 36 ford grille. Woof

The crazy thing is you can't tell easily if at all if it would work. From the front, it's always a Camaro. Going away the Poncho. You can't see both ends at once.

To be "correct" it would need a Chevy engine then and a BOP trans and rear end.

  12. Ive gone a looked at enough "camaro's" to spot the changes now from a distance. Also it looks odd when you look at the trim tag on the Chevy and it says Pontiac Motor Division.

I’m more of a Firebird/Formula guy but your right, everything about that Camaro is perfect.

  16. And now, as Paul Harvey would say, for the rest of the story.
Parents bought the car in 1976 for my brothers High School car. After high school, he worked for Gratiot Auto Supply and bought a lot of speed equipment etc. for it. After he bought a new 1979 Z-28, I got the car from him. Drove it until the mid 90's when the Michigan winters finally did the undercarriage in. Leafs springs came up into the interior, floors rusted through etc. I was going to part it out. Thought about just for the fun of it trying a top chop on it as I had nothing to lose. Chop turned out decent so I repaired the undercarriage. Back then a lot of the parts needed weren't reproduced so I had to make them.

I'm not a huge Camaro guy but I love the 67s, by far the best year, IMHO. This one is setup perfectly.
