Hello, Our family can attest to that photo as I remember going to Knott’s Berry Farm from our Westside of Long Beach house. It was for going to the very dark interior steak house for our dad. No one fixed the steaks like that darkened dining room group of cooks. It was hard to see if the steak was medium or still wiggling… But, for our mom, there were plenty of times she did not want to cook on a Saturday or Sunday weekend, so she convinced our dad to take us to Knott’s Berry Farm. She ate the steak when it was steak night, but she loved the chicken dinner and loved that she did not have to slave over a hot boiling pan of oil making her own version of cooked chicken in our tiny Westside of Long Beach kitchen. At least at home, the steaks were cooked outside on a small 12 inch barbeque grill away from the smoky trails blowing all around the backyard. Yummy... But, for a Sunday dinner, it was a popular place and the food was the main draw. Sometimes, if arriving at a decent hour, approaching the normal dinner time, it was very crowded. It was difficult to sit and smell the aroma floating all around us, but the anticipation/wait was well worth the effort. Jnaki The two young brothers ate anything and it was a treat to come to Knott’s Berry Farm. Not only did we love the thick steaks, but the fried chicken dinners were not like our home cooked meals. But, we liked the volcano and the panning for gold that was part of the lure of this old place. Note: Many years later, during the college years, we had gone to Knott’s Berry Farm plenty of times. But come to find out that my wife (girlfriend then) lived several blocks away and we did go to the steak + chicken restaurants for date night(s) several times. It was the aroma floating around the entry of each diner that made it all worthwhile. Home cooked meals were pretty outstanding, but not having to prepare and cook was the best for all of us.
