Hot Rods took some A's to the loal cars &coffee on craig rd LV

2 of my boys came over for fathers day, so we took some cars out of my A barn...

 

the black RPU is my wifes,... she's still pissed about the wheel deal, she had OG 17'' wires that I want'd for my RPU.....she didn't wanna trade, so I snuck over to my sons and did the swap...took all the wheels off with both cars on stands.... we put the wires on my car..instant fell in love.... mine is the primered one... then put the painted red on hers....fronts were fine... the rears ended up a super rare gowed job OG reversed wheels pretty sure no one here has ever seen them...

 

So my wife goes out and backs her RPU out of the garage....goes in the house and grabs some drinks and a hat, walks out back.... WHOA!!!! where my hub caps... they're on the wire wheels... and won't fit the painted wheels.... bullshit... those wheels had hub caps on your car....no... not on those wheels... but i have some you can have... but they won't go on those super rare GOW wheels...

the problem is ,no way to put dog dish caps,... have to run moon disc...wife's not going for that

Putting wheels on backwards is super rare GOW now?

 

guess I'm just getting Ghost" again....lol ... probley why younger crowd doesn't get into hotrods... curmudgeon old critters....lol... I'm only 70

 

Those backwards wheels look really sketchy, I don't think I'd do that even just to roll it around. If they were torqued, the rims are probably bent now.

 

hell yeah, I owe you a beer!!!! now the rest of the story.... when we put the wheels on they are 7'' reversed.... stuck out and rubbed on the fender,... so told my son.... back in the day you would just cut all the rivets but two, one across from the other, and spin the center section... wa la... reversed wheels...but....some one in china welded the centers in...easy way to tell if the wheels are OG or not .. so anyway,.. I said flip them around and see if that would have worked...So I only had a couple blocks to go home, told my son, get on your phone and check market place for some 5 on 5.5 wheels to get me home... he says.. let's just tighten the nuts and you can go home now...so I get home and this guy dave in cal has two 6'' 16's 5 on 5.5... pick them up tomorrow,... I didn't like the way 7's puffed out the wheel and wanted to change to 6's anyway.... so all's good..

 

you would have never made it into the gow club.... lol... didn't bend the wheels , but I had a hot dinner and a piece of pie waiting, would have got neither showing up late.... that being said I have no use for painted 7'' rims... put them on the wall for air/ water hoses in the shop...

 

believe it or not, but it was stuff like what I did that got NHRA started

I run with scissors while smoking a stogie, and don't wear condoms....made it to70 so fer...

 

Do understand how lug nuts are designed to be used?

got the wheels today, so off to the tire shop tomorrow...

I'm going to the tire shop tomorrow, I'll ask them for you..

 

I'm thinking the 8.90 tires are gonna be too big,... we'll see

 

They will go on a 6" rim, but will look like a fat chick on a unicycle.......

well, bye.... been here since 57, sure wish a whole bunch would do the same...I live out in the northwest horse property..1/2 acre min. and no commercial... if it wasn't for that, I'd a left with you...

 

actually , I thought the 7''s made them look that way, too ballooned... specs say 6'' for the tire, the tread on the tire is only 7''... but again,... as always, I'm gonna try it and see,and not be afraid to try.... looking at the pics you should see the real problem... I have to back half the RPU , rear is in crooked and no trael to the suspension,.. someone put trailer leaf's, with bones and a panard bar so there is no travel what so ever...

but like said.... the flip on the wheel was to check back space.. and if they were rivit mounts I would have spun the centers to undo the reverse they have.. the pics are a joke... but not too many of the ol farts laugh much any more, and take things too serious.. it did get me home though.. and will be fixed today..

to me the 8.90's are hi boy tires.. so will see,. I hope every one here has a blessed and happy day....

here's the same tires, I'd almost bet those are 5 or 6'' rims..
