Hello, It was not my home, but the home in OKC where my wife's family stayed from late 1954 to fall of 1956, when they moved one last time back to the Westcoast near Knott's Berry Farm. They were originally from OKC/Norman area and moved to the Westcoast and back many times to follow the job market for the dad. My wife and I tried to find it in OKC, on a long, Eastern road trip and could not find the exact home. The tree lined streets had tons of similar looking homes, but they could have all gone through remodeling over time. But, we did find the elementary school campus. "We walked through snow to get to and from school..." was the story line I always heard at family gatherings. So, it was not in So Cal, other than in 1949. The new job on the Westcoast was just a few mile East of Knott's Berry Farm in the aerospace industry. At the time, it was a growing industry with gobs of warehouses and space for all sorts of jobs to complete various stuff for the fast moving industry. Jnaki By the time we met in college, her dad still had the same job as it turned into a permanent job. All of the kids finally went to California schools from 6th grade on to college days. We have lived in So Cal in different locations closer to the beach, but visited her family home, inland, many times over the years. It is a nice place to remember our history and see, if we are ever in the area again. YRMV
At $150 a week and a contract she couldn’t get out of; I’m Thinking during the “Beach” movies she probably wasn’t all that happy. The few records helped…
