    I used to tell the guys that drove my dirt track cars, "If your going to kill the motors, kill them good! I don't want to pull a half azz dead motor out!"

    Those guys killed those motors good! None of that "It was getting hot" or "it was loosing oil pressure" or "it spun a rod bearing" or "it threw a rod through the side of the block" light weight crap. Those guys got everything out of those motors!

    That looks like a good reason to replace a motor, but if that damaged part of the head was at the back of the motor, you had to pull it out and tear it down to access the damage and what was needed to make it run again.

    You have to admit, as far as destruction is concerned, those three I quoted pretty much remove any doubt about the condition of the motor.

    Tony Mullens channelled 32 roadster with Y-block power at the Fishermans Bend dragstrip in Melbourne. There's a 49 to 52 Holden behind and a 56- 59 Holden beside.

    Richard Hobbs from D.C moved to Nor Cal early 60s to San Rafael Cal had a auto repair shop. My home town. It never looked that good. I have his the white 32 roadster .
