We can see the happy face on the owner of the 58 Impala, whether it is totally stock in 1957 fall introduction or during the following years of ownership. It was a one of a kind sedan that had all qualities of a hot rod, drag racer, cruiser and family car all wrapped into one nice package.

When my brother sold our Model A coupe and his 51 Oldsmobile two door sedan, in our driveway was a nice shiny black 1958 Impala. It was a sad day for me as I was supposed to be the next owner of the 51 Oldsmobile sedan. But, happy to be in line for a change in our fast hot rod scene and involvement…

Definitely a change in the surrounding home location brought smiles to any time we drove the Impala rumbling in between the narrow opening to the designated parking space in the small two car garage.

Our ownership changed hands in late 1960 as my brother moved on to another vehicle. But, now, I was part owner of the 58 Impala, if I could teach my mom to drive the C&O Stick Hydro and Impala set up for her, as a partial daily driver. Ha! Some path I was headed, for sure…YRMV
