On a more serious note, I dropped the injector off with Spud Miller (FIE) and he went through it. Since I will be running it on the RPU until the Banana is ready, I decided to run it on gas for the time being. So, now I need to order a low mount version of belt drive for the fuel pump. When we switch the engine to the dragster it will run alcohol and perhaps some Nitro. IMG_0703.jpg IMG_0704.jpg

That is a thing of beauty even without the stacks.
I can't imagine someone seeing that shot and not be ever so slightly stimulated:oops:.

Light bulbs? We were stuck using balloons and shoe boxes when I was in grade school. Your generation does sound a bit more fun, I’ll admit it.

If you were looking at ground clearance I'll share some info from a chassis builder who built my newest altered FWIW:
When the chassis was in the jig I remarked that it looked like it sat higher than the NHRA minimum of 3" ground clearance. He said he builds his cars to a 4" ground clearance because it makes loading / unloading from the trailer infinitely easier, especially with a long wheelbase, and the aerodynamic hit was nil.

NITRO, NITRO, NITRO! Sunday afternoon at the track... I can hear the radio adds from way back when.

Marty, is that gentleman and his business on line? Sooner or later I'm going to need someone to go thru mine. Might as well make it sooner...

Throw it in the trunk and head WEST, we're just up the Interstate from there, stop by for a visit, Marty is about twenty minutes from me, call it a shop crawl.

I'd sure like to. SWMBO, however, not so much. Mode of travel has been an issue for most of our 44 years together. I'm afraid of flying! I broke too many airplane parts at the research firm. And she doesn't really want to ride trains. Oh well what can I say...

I need to go up in the attic more often. Lately I have been looking into flywheel-clutch-and pressure plates, and need to fit the Ford input that I have. Well, back in 1980 I built an OT Chevy Luv pickup Pro/Super Gas for a friend. It had a healthy SBC backed by a Lenco 4 speed. After a couple years racing, the owner parked it, and in the later 90's he decided to put it on the street. He had me pull the engine and trans, and sell the Lenco, and install an aluminum head crate engine and 400 Turbo. For the last 26 years, this 40 pound billet flywheel, clutch and Ram style disc, with the correct spline has been overhead. It only needs a mild surface job and some cleanup on the PP. It's almost like my birthday ! IMG_0709.jpg IMG_0710.jpg IMG_0711.jpg IMG_0712.jpg

Marty, I can see your problem and I know how to fix it. Just adopt me and I can become your "Inventory Control Technician".

    Marty,
I have an attic like that, too.

It gives up some good stuff occasionally, but I still can't find the 4th aluminum wheel for my Granddaughter's Oldsmobile.

But, but, but Marty, youve told at least a half dozen or more of us we were at the top of your list... Oh wait, now that I think about it, you never said which list!

U going to put that 40 pound flywheel in the rail? The old fashion way to launch heavy weight. Will it blow tires off rail?

    Marty,
Sorry but the Olds is Off Topic late model.
I thought the 40 lb. wheel was a bit heavy too!

With a 4.30 gear and a 1.75 second makes a 7.58 ratio on launch. Using a new 9” wide tire on a somewhat prepped surface and around 500 hp, I think I will need the inertia of the heavy wheel. If it smokes the tires, that will be more like the period. Besides, I trained on a tire smoker. In this photo, I am in the left lane with the great Jim Davis in the right. I wish it was more clear, but notice how high the left rear is off the ground and we were dead even. View attachment 6112363

One other thing, I am going to run the 355 engine on gas in the RPU with a 4 speed, to get familiar with the engine and clutch, before switching to the Dragster.
