Sid is trying to slow down and isn’t taking orders. He no longer has employees so is the only one doing the work now.

There isn't enough room for the axle between the springs and frame rail. '37s used flat front springs, no arch to them, no room! My truck is lowered with different springs I purchased from Detroit Spring, I used longer front shackles to raise it back up some, it would hit the bump stops pretty easy. Dropped axle is your only hope to still have it drivable and look correct, late model independent front will lower it, but then you have a MII.

I ran this 6 inch drop tube axle from Butch's Rod Shop for many years but I don't know if they are in business anymore. They were in Dayton Ohio.

this was one of my ideas to put the springs under the axle and make some spacers for the bolts.

thanks guys was hoping to get the front axle done by SID but its kind of looking like i either put the axle over the springs or i go to a IFS flatout front suspension but IFS is alot of work

  10. There’s more than one guy to stretch axles out there

  11. For about the same amount of planning and maybe less work, you can get if where you want it to be without going to a M2, and its way cooler!

I completely agree with @anthony myrick

  12. The issue with flipping the from axle is how much closer the axle is to hitting the frame.

  13. I just finished an IFS on a 38 coupe. I have a thread in the off topic section because IFS is not allowed on the main board. It’s not too bad, I did a bolt in chassis engineering crossmember and speedway components. I can advise if you’d like. My thread is called “Family Heirloom 38 Chevy”

Did you ask Sid if he had an axle in stock that he would sell? From what I read in his announcement on FB he intends to just do a batch of axles at a time to haul to swap meets and sell and be able to have personal time and travel for fun in the mean time.

  15. Contact Lee at LG Speed & Customs in Victoria. He drops axles. Keeping it in Canada will reduce the cost immensely.
His email is on his facebook page or he is on Instagram as well.

  17. There are at least 2 guys on the island that drop axles so one would think there must be someone in Ontario that does it. @Jeff Norwell?

Unfortunately the fella I knew has passed on But.. I would contact my pal Keith at BinBrook Speed and ask him.(BinBrook Ontario)
I think he may send his work to @thunderbirdesq .....
I would DEFINITELY send the axle out to Lee at LG Speed and Custom... great work and Rep.

Spoke with LG only does FORD axles :(

  23. @Dan Hay did your car have a dropped axle before you went to IFS? If so, maybe you would like to sell it to @Jdmcrx ?

  24. No, it had a 39-48 Chevy kingpin IFS. It sat real high with that setup. I had it in the classifieds for months and finally scrapped it.

  25. The other guy on the island that drops axles is Victory Rod and Custom. Not sure about contact info for them but they are on Instagram. May be the same situation as Lee though.

  26. Maybe look into a universal axle they make for gassers?

WAC custom axles makes made to order solid axles. Might be worth checking out

Also, @Jdmcrx did you ask Sid if he by chance had one sitting on the shelf? He isn't taking orders for new stuff, but is still in business and does have some stock. I was just there Monday evening and asked about a 57-59 Chevy pu axle that I have a buddy looking for...and he had one...

  28. I feel like I should buy a 35-40 Ford axle from Sid just to have one in stock for the next car that will inevitably need it
