Actually............I think it's pretty neat. Kinda reminds me of what people did in in the forties and fifties........use what ya got. He took a beater and used his head to make a driveable car thats lighter and faster and easy to work on. How'd ya like to lose to that guy at a red light in your fancy BMW . He can run on dirt roads and highways with no worries about chipped paint. It kinda pays tribute to the origins of hot rodding with the grille shell. Guess its the old axiom about "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". And I just had my eyes checked recently.........:D

Have you ever read a novel and created a picture in your mind of the characters and settings and then watched the movie version based on the book? It is always a let down to me.

It is like that with this car. I heard the song long before I saw the vehicle and I had something so much better dreamt up in my imagination. It's not that I don't like this car, it was just a big disappointment for me.

different strokes for different folks. I for one Love Chilli Catallo's 32. And feel that it belongs on a "100 best" thread instead of this is wrong... like I said, different strokes

And don't take me wrong, like I said I like it but the car I conjured up in my head as a kid was a lot more hot rod and a lot less custom. "little deuce coupe, you don't know what I got" doesn't apply to a hoodless, blown flathead. And wears the lake pipes dammit?

That didn't help your case. It has to have a ported and relieved, flat head mill.

The guy is living the life, having fun with HIS ride. You or I don't have to like it, as long as he does. I suspect he built it the way he wanted to. It looks like it might be safe to drive, and safe to drive near it. Some of those "rat rods" are actually done pretty well. The builders just don't want to conform to, and fit into, the boxes other builder's think they should. :p

I think if you listen to the words of the song it should have been more of a streetable/competition type of 32, and like you the picture in my mind didn't jive with the one on the album. Something more like the Milner coupe..............

I respect your love of that style of car, but I'm simply more impressed by the mechanical aspects of a machine, than gloss and glitter. I do appreciate it when someone combines the mechanical side with well thought out color and components that compliment whatever "look" the owner wishes to present. I've just never been a fan of adding things that glitter and shine but serve no real purpose.

These are the type of cars that catch my attention.............

Everything I see on this car is there for a purpose.

We just appreciate different perspectives. I'm glad we all don't like exactly the same things.
