Anybody recognize this? Looks like it could be a transmission but has an input shaft but no output shaft. There is a cover plate on the back side but has no open hole for a shaft. I have no opened it up yet to look inside. The numbers on side are GM3 379936 B92. Yes, it is sitting on a Model T running board but is not part of that car. Came from a liquidation sale of a local property so they didn't know anything about it.
It's the transmission. It bolts to the final drive part of the transaxle. see it on on the left end of this crappy picture
this pic shows the input shaft, which you're missing. It's skinny, and fits inside the output shaft, which you see sticking out of the end of the transmission.
Looks like a 1961-65 4 speed, looks excellent from the pic, pull the cover, if it looks good inside, without water / rust damage, it's a great find. Corvairs and parts are valuable these days, go to Clark's corvairs site for more info.
