Looks like not the first time.

 

As @57JoeFoMoPar says we don’t have the full story yet, and I wish Gene a full recovery.

However I don’t find this a bit shocking, to give a little prospective several years ago I had to go through a background check to adopt a beagle puppy from the shelter, after I passed the women in charge of the shelter she had rejected people from adopting pets who were allowed to have foster children!

 

Yes I started that group the latest is doctors said he’s going too pull through YAY!!!

 

W O W Was I ever wrong about this girl !!!!!!! My apologies to anyone who I offended by sticking up for her,,,,, my mistake completly. I hope the courts give her what she deserves. I am so sorry this has happend to a wonderful man !

 

Some people are just predators waiting for what they see as an easy mark with $$$. The first part of control is getting rid ot the persons friends….I feel so sorry for Gene because he has a nature to help others as he slows down. I believe she assumed she could eliminate his friends but as it shows he has too many and the law finally caught up to her. I pray for his recovery…

 

I am totally shocked to learn of these abuses, and the terrible way, that Gene, and who knows how many other elderly people, are going through the exact same abuse!

This is 5 months old. There was a locked thread about it on here.

 

Most likely a competency hearing will take place where a court appointed caretaker will be named. Most likely it will be the son. That person will be responsible to court to show all efforts being made to assist Mr. Winfield. He will also be assigned a case manager who will oversee the process. Elder abuse is taken seriously.

 

....'Cause that could involve actual work!

I am so shocked by this terrible news. she had me totally fooled. I’ve talked to her a few times and she seemed legit. I am embarrassed that I fell for her bullshit.

Get well soon, Gene! I really care about him.

These people pray on the weak and the elderly, they are the worst of the worst and they have it down to a science. We went through something similar with my LSR Racing partner Bruce Geisler, not the physical abuse part but mentally and financially they will work you over! Being lonely is a terrible thing for the elderly and these people know just how to take advantage of that situation. Thoughts and prayers for Gene, hopefully his family will step up and give him the proper care and the respect he deserves.

Austin rod- Thanks for informed update. this is type of info needed now. not speculation, and tales of the past. dealing with the here and now, and going forward, is the important thing.

Life is all about making choices, choices have consequences. My space at LARS was right next to Gene's. I saw it all for 3 days, I even spoke with MLA, she admitted to me she has her own mental problems (not the best person to have for a caretaker) ...the other 2 men working with her were propping Gene up like a trophy and using him to sell merchandise. I met Gene 20 years ago when he was more there mentally and still racing. Now he is so far gone, he doesn't even realize what is happening. Apparently, Just like BOYD, Gene has used his fame to not pay bills.....
