  1. I think the wheelie bars are still too low. It didn't feel like it pulled the wheels at all.

  8. I had an issue at the November finals where the fuel pump over ran the floats and hydraulic-ed the engine. Broke 2 rocker arms so by Ringold the new rockers were still not here. We made it to Shadyside and Knoxville. Planning to go to Mooresville next, then Knoxville again.

Glad to see u back. Gasser first connected me to southeast gassers lov em. Surprised hydraulic motor broke rocker arms, usually bends rods. I am sure u checked everything else

  10. Yeah there was a bunch of stuff that needed attention. I ended up putting in a new set of Molnar rods and getting the crank turned. @402BOSSMAN went through the heads because one seat was sinking. Too many 9000+ rpm excursions and the bearings were wasted - it was probably 1 or 2 passes from kicking a rod out. This season the rev limiter is on 8000 and staying there.

The fuel problem was my fault. I never ran carbs before so I had the fuel pump on its own switch and I left it on in the pits. I thought the starter had stuck and kept trying to crank it over. I'm thinking it was pushing against liquid and finally broke something. The push rods are like telephone poles so they weren't bending.

What made you switch over to carbs?

Understand, cylinder full tried to start valves tried to open, snap. Now that makes sense. Tks, love your gasser. Due to you try to follow SWGassers

  13. I just got tired of always messing with the injection. It would change the idle RPM as the engine heated up. So after a burnout it would be at 4000 and wouldn't come back down. It would overheat from the high idle. The pumps would slowly get weaker through the season so keeping track of what pill to run was difficult. With the carbs you just hit the start and off it goes. I will say that it ran with way more power on injection but A/G is running 5.20's now and I'm not keeping up so I went to carbs to take some of the trouble out of racing the thing.

  14. It lost almost 1/2 second compared to the injection. Jimmy loaned me some better carbs to try out. Haven't tried them yet though. Race carbs can get pricy!

  16. Haha I figure they're still making carbs and not making hemi speed parts so carbs should be belly button cheap?!

That sounds like the butterflies were sticking, possibly too large for the bore. Never heard of that being an issue. Also, the pumps should last longer than a season. Strange indeed.

Yeah, I figured that. We do also. We converted to alcohol one season, but I kept falling down in the staging lanes. They asked me to leave.

Edit###Well, we used to. I haven't done dick in the last 8 years.
