I love the styling of the 1959 Buick - BUT - it drove like a marshmallow. In the summer of 1962, I was a fresh high school graduate and spent the summer living with my grandparents (working a summer job). My great grandpa had a a 1959 Buick Electra 225 (it was 225 inches long). It drove like a boat in the water, very little road feel, leaned into the corners. The 401 CID nailhead engine was "connected" to a Dynaflow ("Dynaflush") transmission - Stab the gas peddle, and wait for the transmission to s-l-o-o-w-l-y move some torque to the the wheels.

I'm still looking for a pair of 59 bonneville tail lights or even parts to build a pair if anyone has any leads. upload_2024-2-18_2-23-45.jpeg

I just came across a '60 Impala convertible with Pontiac tail lights and cool split quad headlights in a May, 1962 Car Craft... See if you can find it, I think you'd like it!

Yeah, I like those Pontiac tail lights. I think that Chrysler front end could look pretty good too.

Here's the images I was referring to... At first glance I didn't care for the front end treatment, but as I studied the car it began to grow on me. Interesting tilt to an already good looking machine. The tail lights are subtle but bitchin', right?
