The first picture was taken about 1952 or 1953. The other pictures are the same car as it was pulled out of a shed in Los Angeles last week!
The early picture is a treasure. The wild frame bumpout for the steering box is something I never saw before. I hope the car can be returned to it's early 50's format again.
Arrived at the house after a three day tow home to Tacoma, WA. I received the car from the family of the original builder and have a copy of the 1951 pink slip. The original drive line is still in the car. 8BA, Zephyr trans, banjo diff, juice brakes, Dodge front end. Along with the car I got a vintage Edelbrock intake with 2 large logo 97s, a Cyclone quick change reared, and a complete Ford G series 6 with a Madis OHV conversion!
The Madis head was made by Lou Madis in Bellflower, CA. It’s an aluminum F head for the flathead 6 Ford engines. This one has a Madis external oil pump that drives off the front of the cam.
So how did you get onto it? Personal contact? Whispers of a relic from times gone by? Online add/auction? Sounds like a great collection of parts too, looking forward to seeing the ohv 6 (edit you beat me to it!) That head is so cool. I wonder what was it in? Did the family know?
I was able to get the car through an old friend. She’s a family member of the late builder. I need to write up the story of the car and its original owner, and post it here.
I never knew anyone made speed equipment for the Ford flathead 6, more or less an OHV setup, that's gotta be ultra-rare.
Attached are pictures of the Edelbrock 8BA intake that came with the car. No numbers on it that I can see. Also, are change gears available for a Cyclone quick change rear end?
You should call Pete and Jakes ask for Jason he has a contact who specializes in non standard brand QC rearends I believe he is located in Nebraska.
A V8 size Cyclone quickchange will use the same change gears as a Halibrand. You can buy them many places.
Pulled the intake and one head off of the 8BA. The #2 cylinder had water in it but looks like it will clean up. The good news is that the bore measures standard at 3.1875. A few pics of what I found inside.
