Yeah, that’s a good point. I’m 5’-10”, and I don’t like bending my head to drive. I’ve thought before about channeling the seats. If you look at the floor pan of the 61 Thunderbird, I think the area for the seats is sunk down in. If I did that, I think I could legally say it was chopped and channeled ha, ha.

That red Vicky reminds me. I’ve thought about replacing the coupe top with a shortened Victoria top, that could be a lift off hardtop. I’m just full ideas, well, full of something.

Well, my family turned out completely against this project. Is there anyone out there that wants to finish this one? Yes, of course I’m embarrassed.

If I sold all the projects that somebody else disapproved of, I’d have to take up another hobby. Build it because YOU want it.

  6. If I had the $ it'd be tempting as a back burner project

I was counting on my son to want to do quite a bit of the work on it. He’s a really good fabricator. I know he has the skills. He just doesn’t like that particular car. I don’t really care if my wife likes it or not, but I needed his support.

Hey, life happens... Hopefully some one will step up & bring it back!

  10. I did have my brother helping me for a long run, then his wife was fed up with his spending time with me. She has never liked me. So I chug along with very little help these past 5-6 years. And I'm the first guy that will help anyone else if they need a hand.

  12. When I was a kid about 15 years old I sectioned a shoebox coupe by removing 4 in and then overlapped the upper body over the lower body an inch and then drilled and bolted the body back together and then installed stainless side trim to cover the bolts. It looked real nice and no warping from welding, I never got to the frontend which was the hard part. sold it and moved on. But I did section a shoebox when I was 15 years old. Had bragging rights in Auto Shop class.

I have mentioned before that there was an article in one of the old car mags. I know they mentioned some welding in the doors/door frame where it was hard to overlap. Alas I don't remember how the front or back was handled. I must still have the mag some wheres??

Not un common to section the inner door and then where the skin over laps cut the bottom off and pull it into shape and re attach.
